Feature Request, uncheck "Save username" on websites
Hi, I don't know how easy or hard it is to add the following feature, but I use 1Password (Mac) every day to enter my credentials (username/password) in various websites. More and more websites, for reasons unknown, have fallen in love with putting up a checkbox that saves "save my username" or "save my information" or "keep me logged in", none of which I EVER want to do. If you were able to do so and offered an option called "uncheck save my information" I would find that useful as I, more and more these days, go flying by a logon where I see that stupid "save my info" checkbox checked (by default) as I go flying by with 1Password entering username/password and then clickin GO for me. What I end up doing is going back to those websites, manually logging on and unchecking that box. Don't know if that helps or not but at least it makes me feel like I tried... But an auto "uncheck" of their auto "check" would be great... Just a suggestion... Love 1Password... Use it every day... thanks... bob

Hi @diitto,
Thanks so much for your suggestion, we really appreciate it!
1Password should already be able to do what you're asking, although in a slightly different way. When you save a new Login item using the 1Password extension in a browser, it should save the fields you've filled in there, as well as checkboxes like the ones you described. So if you fill in a login form, uncheck those boxes (or leave them unchecked), and save a new Login item, 1Password should remember to uncheck those boxes for you the next time you sign in.
Depending on how you originally created your existing Login items, they might not know about the checkboxes, or might be configured to check those boxes for you. So there are a couple possible ways to have it uncheck those boxes for you:
One option is to edit the checkbox setting in the Login item so it unchecks the box instead of checking it. This depends on whether or not there's a setting for that checkbox in the current Login item:
- Open the main 1Password app and find one of the Login items in question.
- Click the Edit button, then click "show web form details".
- If you find a checkbox in the web form details, and it seems to correspond to the one on the website, click on it to _un_check it, then click Save.
If there's no checkbox setting in the Login item's web form details, the other option is to follow these steps to save a new Login item for the site. When following those steps, remember to uncheck those boxes before using the Save new Login option. The new Login item should save the checkbox setting.
Does that help? Let us know how it goes, thanks!

Interesting... You guys are always a step or a few ahead of me... I just checked the login I ran into today (Farmers ins) that had the "remember my username" checkbox. That login shows nothing but a username and password. So what I think I'm hearing is go save a new login and select the box and be sure to uncheck it. And if I do so, are you saying I should see a checkbox feature in the web form details next time??? I will try that shortly...
thanks.. bob

Well how cool is that... yep, just as you said, I saved a new login for farmers but with that box unchecked and when I logged on with that new Login, I had to be quick to see it as the page loaded quickly but I did see the default checkbox go unchecked just as the login page loaded and went on to my account home page... So what this means I need to go refresh a few of my other logins where folks are adding this "stay logged in" pages or whatever... By the way, I noticed even this forum page appears to have such a stay logged in option. Why do folks want that??? Seems to be a bad approach to computer security. I'm never to lazy to log on each time, well, with the "lazyman" help of 1Password of course.... thanks much... bob

Do you guys also have a solution for the sites that load your username and then switch to a second page for the password?? I think that's a lot harder, right?? bob

Hi @diitto,
The "stay logged in" box is just an option and I'd wager that just as many people want it as don't, but now that you know how to save the login with the box unchecked, you shouldn't have to worry about it. Browsers' incognito or private browsing options may also be helpful to combat accidentally staying logged in.

You betcha! Using 1Password with login sequences split across multiple pages
Hope this helps! :)
