Upgrading and operating between different computers, operating systems and versions of 1P
Computers:
(1) new MacBook Air, OSX 10.10.4, no 1Password on it yet - just replaced old G4 (OSX 10.5.8 w/1P 3.5.15)
(1) MBP, OSX 10.6.8, 1Password 3.8.22 - this 1P data file is the current 1P data file.
The old G4 and MBP used to access the same 1P data file via DB, though not since DB support was discontinued).
Plan is to get 1PV5 on new MBAir. MBP w/10.6.8 will still be used for coming months as is.
Goal is to share one 1P data file between the new MBAir and MBP as before (and iPhone 5 running OS8).
Can 1Pv5 data file be shared with 1P 3.8.22 on MBP?
What are steps to get current data file to new 1Pv5 on new MBAir?
If data file can not shared with MBP 1P 3.8.22, I would still like to have MBP 1P functional until upgrade happens. Then how do I upgrade for new MBAir while still keeping older version active on MBP?
Make sense?

Hi @PJD,
It sounds like you were happy with Dropbox until Leopard lost Dropbox access this year. If you're still happy with Dropbox then 1Password 5 will happily sync to a Agile Keychain in Dropbox and indeed we have users that do exactly that because they too want to continue using 1Password 3 for Mac. The only version of 1Password that cannot access Dropbox is 1Password 3 for iOS AKA 1Password for iPhone, for iPad or 1Password Pro. We lost access there due to a change in the API.
So as long as you want to synchronise between 1Password 4/5 (anywhere) and 1Password 3 for Mac then Dropbox will work for you.
As for kick starting 1Password 5 on your new MacBook Air, if your vault isn't still in Dropbox then I would recommend moving it back. When you start 1Password 5 for the first time it will look at your Dropbox folder for a 1Password.agilekeychain and offer to use it if it finds it. If it doesn't do that automatically then this page on Sync existing Dropbox data should help.
The process should be pretty seamless though. Should you have any issues please do post here in the forums and we'll do our best to help iron out the glitches.
