Please allow user to avoid capitals or specific symbols

Unfortunately it happens too frequently that web sites restrict the set of characters that are available for a password. (Why!?) I've seen web sites that do not allow for capitals. This renders 1Password pretty hard to use for these sites. (Or am I missing something?) Randomizing new passwords in an attempt to get lucky and be offered a password that complies with a particular web site's policy can be quite time consuming...

Being able to turn on/off capitals, and either (i) specifying which special characters are allowed, or (ii) which ones are not (or both) would be excellent.

Either that, or make web sites around the world drop their character restrictions... :-)

It seems like a straightforward feature. Why was it not included in the basic functionality of 1Password?

    Thanks for taking the time to contact us about this! Many different websites seem to have a lot of different restrictions on the characters they will accept in a password. I'm sure they have their reasons for doing so, but it does tend to make things more difficult as far as generating passwords that fit within those restrictions. It would certainly make things a lot easier for us if those sites dropped their restrictions for password characters! ;) But since that isn't likely to happen any time soon, we have an open feature request to add additional controls to the password generator, and I'll be happy to add your feedback to that.

    In the meantime, there's an option for whether or not to use capital letters, and you can find that in the Password Generator when you view the Password Recipe and enable the Pronounceable option. When you do that, you'll see a setting for "Use mixed case letters". When that setting is disabled, the generated password will use only lowercase letters (however, that only applies to the Pronounceable password section).
