1Password 5 is $49.95 for upgrade???

Hey guys i just bought a new macbook & was installing all my apps, when i installed 1password it installed 5

and is now asking me to buy license for $49.99

is this right? its a forced upgrade? why do i need the new version & why is it $49

Do you own version 4 ? The update from version 4 to 5 was free. You may just need to apply your current license to the new install.
You can get the most up to date upgrade pricing here for your specific situation. https://agilebits.com/store/upgrade
The upgrade is not mandatory.

But if your old version 4 was from AgileBits and you tried to install version 5 from the Mac App Store you would have been asked to pay again. You need to go from AgileBits 1PW4 to AgileBits 1PW5 or from App Store 1PW4 to App Store 1PW5 to be sure of a free upgrade (though in fact a little effort can also get you from App Store 1PW4 to AgileBits 1PW5).

The upgrade from 1PW3 to 1PW4 was a paid one. But, due to a bug, some people were not asked to pay at that point.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with this! As thightower mentioned, if you bought a license for 1Password 4 for Mac, version 5 is a free upgrade. As far as what you need to do, as danco explained, that will depend on whether you purchased version 4 from the AgileBits Store or the Mac App Store.

I tried searching our system for the email address associated with your forum account but couldn't find any licenses for you. If you purchased a license for 1Password for Mac from the AgileBits Store with a different email address, you can have your license resent to you from the "I've lost my license" section of this site. The email you receive should have a link you can click to apply your license.

Or if you purchased 1Password for Mac from the Mac App Store, you'll need to reinstall the Mac App Store version of 1Password. Just launch the Mac App Store, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to make the purchase, and reinstall 1Password from the Purchases section.

GOT IT :) APPLIED THE LICENSE ! IT WORKED :) THANK YOU

yea it was cause i bought a new computer and downloaded a new 1password 5 - it didnt automatically upgrade
