3 wks ago, I wrote about original pw never having allowed me access. I followed your suggestions/instructions. I have exhausted the FAQ. It's all quite hopeless. How am I supposed to proceed in any possible way? If your remedy is for me to open a new vault, how am I supposed to do that if I cannot make my pw work? Am I supposed to de-install and then purchase this all over again? Pretty complicated and very frustrating. No human to call for guidance?

    Hi @karenestheranderson,

I'm sorry that everything you've tried has been unsuccessful to unlock your 1Password data, even after going through suggestions in these articles to help recall your Master Password:

I lost or forgot my Master Password. Help!

My Master Password is not being accepted. What should I do?

How am I supposed to proceed in any possible way? If your remedy is for me to open a new vault, how am I supposed to do that if I cannot make my pw work?

If you're sure you've exhausted all possibilities of remembering your current Master Password then be picking a new one when starting over with a new empty vault (all current data will be lost) using these instructions:

How do I start over with an empty vault?

Am I supposed to de-install and then purchase this all over again?

You will not need to uninstall, reinstall, or repurchase the 1Password application. And it should also not be necessary to add your license again.

No human to call for guidance?

We are a relatively small company spread out across several countries and don't have the means to provide inbound phone support. If you need more help and would prefer to continue through email instead of here on the forum please feel to send us a message at support+forum@agilebits.com. Please include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum username. You'll receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number, which you can post here so we can "connect the dots".

    Thank you!

Original question resolved, thank you. Tried the email address you provided; message is that it is not valid, so how are we going to keep this off the forum?

Now, trying to generate pw for logins. Started with Amazon. Amazon is not accepting the pw generated. I have followed instructions, have spent 4 hrs entering credit cards and bank accounts, now trying to secure them with pw generator. Good thing only Amazon login corrupted now, and good thing I did not proceed with other accounts. But those accounts unprotected. Do I need to quit my job so I can manage this program? This is no where as simple as glibly portrayed in the Vimeo and cheerful instructions. Very frustrating. One more try and I will be requesting a refund.

    Hi @karenestheranderson,

So I'm looking at the email address in sjk's post and it looks fine to me. Here is the same email address in clicky form as who doesn't like that  support+forum@agilebits.com. If that still doesn't work I'm genuinely puzzled.

So let's address your Amazon Login item. It sounds like this happened very recently so I'm hoping it's fresh in your head. You went to Amazon's change password page and you entered your old password and then used the Password Generator to create a new one. After you clicked to submit what happened next? If you have Automatically ask to save new Logins enabled (which it is by default) then 1Password should have popped up a small window asking if you want to update your Amazon Login item. Did this happen? If it didn't - which would be very surprising or if you clicked cancel for any reason there should be a Password item now in your vault. Any time you use the Password Generator we create a Password item and it is kept until we see a Login item for the same site with the new password recorded. We title the Password item based on the site you were visiting to allow easier identification. The following two pages detail what should happen and more about this safety net.

    1. Changing a saved password.
    2. How can I recover an unsaved password?

Does any of this describe what happened and your current situation at all? If it doesn't could you help us by describing what did happen and we'll work with you from there. Interacting with websites is a challenge because a) websites evolve and b) there are a number of varied ways of achieving the same goal and people rarely think the same way when they design their site. We try to work with as many sites as we can because we have to but depending on the circumstances we can slip up. Now I'm surprised because I was pretty certain we were solid when it comes to Amazon. We test against it and well use it too. Like all pieces of software it can sometimes take a while to get to grips with it and like all software out there we can always do something to improve the interface.

First things first though, lets see if we can discover what happened when you changed your Amazon password.
