Syncing two Macs using ChronoSync

I am attempting to sync 1Password between two Macs on my local network via a NAS share folder and using ChronoSync.

But the problem is that if ChronoSync updates the 1Password sync Folder on the target machine, 1Password (on the target machine) will not re-sync back to itself.

1Password updates the 1Password Sync Folder if a change is made in it but not the other way around if the 1Password file in the sync folder is modified (in this case by ChronoSync). If 1Password cannot do this, I cannot see how a synching solution is possible between two Macs as other posts appear to suggest is possible.

Would anyone be able to offer any solution?

Many thanks,

I think you'll probably find this part of the user guide helpful:

    Folder Sync

    noting particularly this section:

Folder Sync should only be configured with a folder on a local or removable drive (e.g. external hard drive or USB flash drive). Configuring it with a network volume (e.g. Time Capsule or other NAS) may cause problems if the device goes offline.

    Thanks for your response.

My 1Password Sync folder is a local folder. ChronoSync syncs it with the NAS device. On my other Mac, ChronoSync syncs it to the 1password sync folder on my other Mac (via the NAS folder). I now expect that 1Password (on the target Mac) re-syncs back to itself. But it appears not to do this. This is where my problem is. If the 1Password synch folder is modified by some external source, will 1Password re-sync itself?

    Thanks,

Sorry that I misunderstood your original post. If I understand you correctly now (I just want to be completely sure :) ) the problem is that the target Mac does not update itself from the sync folder into which ChronoSync has placed the updated keychain. Is that right?

That should certainly work if you've followed steps 4 and 5 of the article to which I linked in my previous post and I'm not sure why it's apparently not working.

When you reply it may be helpful for you to tell us what version of 1P for Mac you are using and also to confirm the OS X version number(s) running on both Macs.

    Thanks.

I went through the whole process from scratch and this time it worked. The only thing I did differently is uncheck "ignore invisibles" in the ChronoSynch options. Perhaps this had something to do with it as it was initially set to off and I set it to on.

    Thanks again. Much appreciated

@walterwestphal: Ah, thanks for sharing that! Indeed, so long as 1Password is writing to a local folder, it will motion the changes there. It sounded like some hidden files were being ignored by ChronoSync and therefore were, well...not being sync'd. I'm glad to hear it's working for you now! :)
