Master Password fails 2nd time after complete re-install.
First Install on Friday 8/7. Entered some Credit Card and Logons. Logout & Logon with Maste PW worked ok. Installed on 2nd MacBook using iCloud. Worked fine with Master PW.
Saturday morning, the Master PW (MPW) failed. I uninstalled, including the 2 files in Library/Containers, on both MacBooks.
Re-installed only on the main MacBook, choosing a new MPW & new Vault. I entered data again and rebooted. MPW failed again. Icloud Drive shows 1Password Mini checked. MPW contains a ', as in Honeymoon'98.

NEW INSTALLATION on MACBOOKPRO OSX 10.10.4: Master Password (MP) failed 2nd time after re-install.
Friday 8/7), I installed 1Password and entered data. Later I changed the MP and checked that it worked.
Saturday morning, the MP Failed. I uninstalled 1Password including the 2 files in Library/Containers, same on a second MacBook.
I reinstalled only on my main MacBookPro, choosing a new vault & new MP. I entered data.
Sunday morning, the MP worked fine. I entered more data. Then turned the computer, off and back on later. Again the MP failed.
FYI: The MP contains a ', like in"Honeymoon'98"0 -
@symagicmanta I have split your other post from the thread in which you posted and merged it with the thread on the same subject that you started. That way you will have to look only in one place to find an answer to your question.

Hi @symagicmanta,
I'm sorry you're having trouble with your master password!
An apostrophe shouldn't be a problem, as it's one of the standard Latin (ASCII) characters that we recommend using in a master password. You should make sure you aren't using any non-standard characters that might cause an issue, as described here: Should I use special characters in my Master Password?
If you're using all US-ASCII characters in your master password, is the problem that you aren't able to unlock the main 1Password app with your master password, or that you aren't able to re-enable iCloud sync when it asks for your master password?
Unless you had reset your 1Password data in iCloud when you reset 1Password on your Mac(s), your data in iCloud would still be associated with your previous master password. So if the problem is trying to re-enable iCloud sync, you can either try entering your old master password when doing that, or you can reset the 1Password data in iCloud by opening 1Password and going to Help > Troubleshooting > Reset iCloud Data.
On the other hand, if the problem is that you aren't able to unlock the main 1Password app, please check out the tips here: My Master Password is not being accepted. What should I do?
Not all of those tips will necessarily apply, but some of them might be helpful. Please let us know how it goes. If you're still having trouble, we'll continue from there. Thanks!

Without doing a thing, Sunday afternoon, magically the new password worked again. I am going to see, if it works reliably for several weeks, before I trust the program.
How can I backup the data (password protected) in my secure vault, so that it can be restored, if the password fails again? Restoring your std backup is not possible, if the password fails, since I can't open 1Password.

Hi @symagicmanta,
I'm glad to hear it started working! That's very strange, though. If it starts happening again, please do make sure you check out the tips in this knowledgebase article to help figure out what's going on.
How can I backup the data (password protected) in my secure vault, so that it can be restored, if the password fails again? Restoring your std backup is not possible, if the password fails, since I can't open 1Password.
You don't need to unlock the 1Password app (i.e. your current vault) in order to restore from one of the automatic backups that it makes. Even while the main app is locked, you can go to the menu for 1Password > Preferences, then choose the Backup tab. That will show the backups that have automatically been created for you, and you can restore your data by selecting one and clicking the Restore button. However, restoring from a backup will require you to enter the master password associated with that backup (i.e. the same one you normally use to unlock 1Password). so, depending on why entering the master password is failing, you may or may not have the exact same problem trying to restore from a backup.
Hopefully this won't be a problem though, if your master password continues to work. Please let us know if you have more questions about that!
