Imported from Lastpass, characters in passwords weren't exactly converted?
I just bought 1Password and switched from Lastpass. I have over 700 vault items in Lastpass, so I exported them via their website (tools -> export), saved the file as a csv, and imported them into 1Password. The import appeared to go fine, but I've noticed that several passwords were imported containing HTML special entities. As a result, I have passwords containing the "&" character, but were converted to, and show up as "&" in the 1Password application. This change is visible on other devices, so I can only assume that either the bug is in the Mac app's importer, or that Lastpass's exporter temporarily was generating bad exports. I don't have the original file I exported, as that seems a wee bit insecure to save around for long periods of time.
Either way, is there a fast way I can replace these characters find and replace style? I certainly don't want to export from Lastpass again -- I have already changed around 70 passwords since going to 1Password.
Is the best route to export all items, find and replace these characters, and then import them all again (from 1Password to 1Password)?

Hi @nicatronTg ,
At this point, the best route would be to export all the items as 1PIF. I posted about a similar Find/Replace solution here.
Regarding the export problem you experienced with HTML Entities, I'm betting you used Chrome as your browser when you did the export. If so, this is a LastPass export problem, and I explain the issue here.
Also, I'm curious, did you happen to try this converter by any chance?

@MrC, I used Chrome, and while I could almost swear that I did the export from the vault page, you describe the exact issue I have. It's unfortunate that this happens, but software being unreliable is the exact reason why I ditched them.
I didn't see your converter before I ran my export and started working on it. I'm guessing that the converter would offer benefits like keeping fields lined up between other formats and 1P? Any reason why I might want to jump back to LP and use your converter?
I'll go ahead and find & replace with the 1PIF solution right now -- it's pretty easy to do (I just wanted to see if there was a better option).
Thanks for your help :)
Edit: Importing & exporting via 1PIF to find & replace worked great.

The converter better places your LastPass records into 1Password categories, and has some additional bells and whistles. If you're happy with the results you have, there's no reason to go this route. If you're curious, you could make a new vault, and import the converter's results into it, and compare it to what you have.
If you do use the converter, just use a non-chrome browser to export, and you won't have to bother fiddling with the 1PIF file.

@MrC, ahh, that makes sense. Unfortunately, I've already done a lot of work on my 1Password vault, and I don't want to try getting LP to import it so that I can export it again. The only metadata I really liked was the creation & modify dates, but the Lastpass export tool doesn't send that metadata with it.
Thanks though!

I'm glad that MrC was able to help with that! Hopefully you're all set, but if you have more questions or need anything else, just let us know - we're always happy to help! :)
