1Password extension warning in Firefox 40.0 (should still work)
After updating to Mac Firefox 40.0 this afternoon, I got a big red alert in Firefox's add-ons manager page that says: "1Password could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution." Everything was working perfectly fine until I upgraded to Firefox 40.0 this afternoon, so the issue clearly has to do with Firefox 40.0 itself. Just to check, I disabled ALL of my Firefox browser extensions, leaving only 1P active (restarting in between), and it still didn't work. 1P in Safari is working fine. Could you please post back with any recommendations for how to solve this -- and/or could you let us when the bug will be patched? Thanks (and please excuse the cross post).
Edit: FYI, the Firefox 40.0 version I've installed is a standard build, not a dev build.

I am having exactly the same issue as clapsclaps, except that his/her solution didn't work on my end. In fact, I disabled ALL of my Firefox browser extensions, leaving only 1P active (restarting in between), and it still doesn't work. On the add-ons manager page, I have a big red alert in Firefox that says: "1Password could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution." Everything was working perfectly fine until I upgraded to Firefox 40.0 this afternoon, so the issue clearly has to do with a Firefox 40.0 compatibility issue. 1P in Safari is working fine. If it's any consolation to 1P developers out there, several other extensions came up with the same alert at the same moment in time (right after the firefox upgrade today). Could you please post back with any recommendations for how to solve this -- or could you let us when the bug will be patched? Thanks.

@1P support - I have been using 1P version 5 from the very start, and have had up-to-date versions of all software from the start, so my issue is not the same as billpeet's or a few others who have posted. All was just fine before the incompatibility suddenly came up upon installing Firefox 40.0. So on my end at least this is not a matter of my having an older version of 1P or its extension. My partner also has a Mac with the same 1P / 1P extension / Mac OS combination and he is experiencing exactly the same thing I am. Would greatly assistance from 1P support.

Currently Firefox 40 merely warns that an add-on is unsigned (at least in my experience: there was only one of a number of unsigned add-ons it refused to allow and it turned out there was an update for that add-on). I'm running 1P5.4.BETA-31 with Firefox 40 and the 1P 4.4.3.b2 add-on with no problems at all (albeit still with the warning message about the unsigned add-on of course).
I appreciate that's no consolation to those of you who have problems but it does indicate that FF 40 will work with 1P in some configurations. That's why it's really important that, if you're having problems, you tell us exactly:
Please also see this AgileBits post and subsequent comments in that thread.

Hi @Ashiado,
I noticed you posted about this in a different thread before starting this one, so I moved that message here to avoid further confusion.
As Stephen mentioned, the latest 1Password extension should still work in the stable version of Firefox 40, but you might get a warning about it because of an extension signing requirement that will be in Firefox 41 and higher. But even with the warning in version 40, unsigned extensions should still run. (Firefox 41 will have a hidden preference to allow unsigned extensions and Firefox 42 will preclude their use entirely.) The current 1Password extension will be signed and ready to go when Firefox 41 is released to the stable channel.
So, just to make sure we understand: Are you still able to use the 1Password extension even though you get a warning from Firefox? Or is the 1Password extension not working at all? If the extension doesn't work, what exactly happens when you try to use it?
Thanks!

@Stephen_C the specs of the versions I am using were included in my post(s). Again please excuse the cross-post. I would have deleted the first post if I could have, but I did note that I was cross-posting! ;)
@Drew_AG thanks for the update and further information. The 1P extension is in fact working if I activate it. It is just fairly disconcerting to activate an extension that Firefox is telling you to be cautious of -- especially when that extension relates to passwords and accounts! From your comment it sounds like there isn't much of a way around this except to wait for Firefox 41... Thanks though.

I have problems with 1Password 1Password 5 Version 5.3.2 (532001) Agile Webwinkel in Firefox 40 with extension 1Password 4.4.2. I am not able to use 1Password since updating to Firefox 40. With Chrome there are no problems. Thanks for solving this problem. HMR

1Password can not work since the 1P button fails.

Indeed. If you're using the old 1Password 3 Firefox extension, it will not work going forward due to changes Mozilla has made. You can either upgrade to 1Password 5 and the new extension (which is current and fully supported), or use Chrome instead. 1Password 3 simply doesn't know about Firefox 40, since Firefox 4 was current at the time of its development. I hope this helps! :)

What about 1Password 5 version 5.3.2, Firefox 40 and extension 1P 4.4.2? I can tell you that such a combination will not work!

Hi @HMR,
Can you please elaborate on the exact problem? It should definitely work, and it works for me. The Add-ons Manager window will give an alert about the 1Password extension, but that's just a warning and should not actually prevent the extension from working.
You previously said "the 1P button fails". If you can give us some more details about that, it will be helpful. What exactly happens when you go to a website with a login form and then click on the 1Password extension? Have you restarted Firefox to see if it helps? Have you restarted your Mac? The more details you can give us about what you're seeing on your end, the better. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for helping.
I have again removed the 1P extension and made a new installation. See screendump 1
After that reinstallation the 1P button is not there. See screendump 2
In Chrome there is a 1P button. See screendump 30 -
Hi Drew_AG,
Thanks for helping me with this problem. I removed the 1P extension and reinstalled it. See screendump 1.
Screendump 2 shows no 1P button as you can see.In Chrome you can see the 1P button! See screendump 3
I hope this will give you enough information.

Hi @HMR,
Can you first confirm that the extension is installed and enabled in Firefox's Extension tab. You can reach this by using the keyboard shortcut
⇧⌘A
and then clicking on the Extensions option in the list on the left hand side. If there is an Enable button that means the extension is current disabled. If the extension is loaded and enabled it might be all that is required is to place the icon back on the toolbar. The follow should help with that.
You want to bring up the Customise menu and this screenshot will show you how.
Your screen should now look like this and if the 1Password icon isn't in your toolbar it should be in the list of available icons as per the image below.
All you should need to do is drag the icon to the toolbar like so.
Does any of that help resolve your issue?

Yes, I can use 1P as usual. Many thanks.

So we managed to resolve the issue @HMR? If so that's great, I hope it runs smoothly now
