How To Merge Two Vaults So Machines Sync To One Combined?
Hello,
I have a situation where my have a Macbook and my iPhone are backing up to one value while my iMac is syncing to another vault. I would like to merge these vaults so there is one vault they are all using. At some point, one vault was created from the other; so there is a lot of duplication between the two. I am syncing via Dropbox and I am including a screenshot of my finder window that shows the two vaults. Can you help me with instructions on how I should proceed?
Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks in advance for your help!
iPhone app version is 5.4.3
Both Macs should be running the app/operating system info shown below.
1Password Version: 5.3.2
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: OSX 10.10.2
Sync Type: Dropbox

Hi @idkidd,
Actually the solution isn't too bad.
The first thing to do is create a clean backup on both of your Macs. Here is how to do that.
- Launch 1Password for Mac.
- Enter 1Password's preferences and switch to the Backup tab.
- Click the Backup Now button.
That's the safety net, no matter what happens you can revert to the two separate vaults if need be.
Now return to 1Password for Mac on your iMac - that go-it-alone vault of yours.
- Launch 1Password for Mac.
- Enter 1Password's preferences and switch to the Sync tab.
- Change the sync menu option from Dropbox to None.
- 1Password will pop up a small confirmation window. Tick the checkbox titled Delete data from Dropbox. Don't worry, this will only delete the Agile Keychain that the iMac has been erroneously syncing to and we want to remove that sync container so it doesn't muddy things up in the future. Now click the Disable Sync button.
- Change the sync menu option from None to Dropbox.
- Point 1Password for Mac to the existing Agile Keychain that your MacBook and iOS device are using. It will likely ask if you're sure about merging the two. That's exactly what you want though.
Now you may have a bunch of duplicates to handle or conflict fields where 1Password can't tell which data is good and which isn't. 1Password never deletes anything unless it's sure though so it might take a while to tidy up but there shouldn't be any data loss. Worst case and you instantly regret having merged we have backups we can restore. If you have any questions though please do ask and we'll do our best to answer
