1password (nor simple paste) works in the password field of the verizonwireless cloud app for MACs
I downloaded the verizon cloud app to use with my cell phone.
It runs on macintosh yosemite.
You can't use 1password with the login pane.
You can't even paste the password from 1password to the password field.
You have to manually type into the field. No way with a complex password.
Any way to resolve this? I've seen this before. Some app designers do not appear to allow PASTE ops in the password field. Is there some brain-damaged security rationale for this?
Even after logging into the application, the menu bar widget doesn't recognize the login and prompts again which makes it even worse.

@ddokoto: Not being brain damaged (that I know of... ), I'm afraid I'm not able to come up with a rationale for this...although I'm sure someone has one. They make, however, be unavailable for comment.
Often certain sites (notably financial institutions) just seem to really want users to have to manually type the password in. I don't know why, but it does have the effect of encouraging people to use really weak, memorable, easy-to-guess passwords.
I'm not familiar with this particular site, but it sounds like Flash may be involved. If so, 1Password simply won't be able to interact with it (and usually Flash is what also precludes pasting). That said, if you can provide the URL I'll be happy to test to see if there is something we can do — if not now, then in the future. Thanks in advance! :)

Hello @ddokoto,
As this is an application/service on your actual Mac we won't be able to fill the fields like we can/try in browsers. The reason is 1Password doesn't actually do any filling, we pass certain details to the extension and the extension then pushes the data into the web page directly. As it stands 1Password for Mac does not have a way of interacting with applications in general.
Normally copy and paste is a workaround but for reasons unknown Verizon have disabled the standard paste keyboard shortcut. What they haven't done though is disable the contextual menu paste option. So if you copy the password from your Login item and then right click on the password field of Verizon's login window you should see a Paste option which will paste the password in. It's hard to definitely confirm as I'm not a Verizon customer but I tried two very different sizes of password and the number of dots did change between these two.
Does that work for you and does it allow you to log into this cloud application of theirs?

Yes, the rightclick menu does have a paste and it works for this Verizon Cloud app. FWIW, the verizon cloud app is so non-macintosh friendly, that I stopped using it. But the general login issue was been encountered before so I'll file away this tip.
I was using this app to backup my contact list, but as it turns out, it doesn't work. Technical support is clueless.

@ddokoto: Based on your description alone, I can't say I blame you! But yeah, it's always good to have a few tools in your belt...and remember we're always here to help in any way we can!

Always a nightmare. I won't be able to point you anywhere in particular, but I know in the past I've been able to find solutions for grabbing data off of my old phones on forums through a Google search. I bet there's somebody out there who wanted to do the same thing who made a simple script or something that could do the job for you. Good luck! :)
