Apple decided, when they released Yosemite, not to allow access to the CloudKit protocols to any applications they don't sell themselves in the Mac App Store. iCloud syncing requires those protocols. So the version of 1Password 5 that comes directly from the AgileBits web store is unable to sync via iCloud. The other three options are available in both versions.

Hi @CSXJoe,
We have an article with more on this which you can find at iCloud FAQs (iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite) If you have any follow up questions at all please do ask

Do i have to buy it again from Apple App Store ?

@CSXJoe - Unless you bought your license from AgileBits within the last 30 days and therefore qualify for a refund, then, yes, you'll need to buy the application from Apple if iCloud is important enough to you to justify the added expense. Apple does not provide developers any way to transfer licenses to the Mac App Store. They also don't permit discounted pricing for paid upgrades. AgileBits does offer such discounts, which is one economic reason to stay with what you have.
Dropbox works well for syncing, it allows syncing of multiple vaults (iCloud only lets you sync the primary one), and it permits you to share your vaults with others (iCloud doesn't). As far as security is concerned, your protection resides fully in your master password. If that's strong, any cloud solution is equally secure.
You may well have strong personal reasons to prefer iCloud. You aren't alone in that; it does have costs when you want to switch over to it, though. Only you can decide if the price is worth it.

Hi @CSXJoe,
Could Dropbox be a suitable alternative to iCloud here? We certainly don't want you to purchase 1Password for Mac again although as you will have seen from the FAQ, the options at our disposal are limited. We all use Dropbox here at AgileBits so if it's a case of concern over the security of your vault I would ask, would the founders of AgileBits use Dropbox if it wasn't trustworthy?

I use Dropbox and no issues at all. I find it more convent because I can access my Dropbox anywhere (1Password Anywhere), and sync more than 1 vault too. I think you can also sync wirelessly on your network as well. I don't use it, but another option.
Another reason I like Dropbox is, if all my stuff dies for some reason, I still have access to my passwords in an emergency.

Well @CSXJoe, there's been a lot of positive things said about Dropbox, would it be an acceptable alternative?

That's what I have done works great. Thanks for all the support help

I'm glad to hear you're happy with Dropbox and that you didn't feel another purchase was necessary. All of the iCloud changes caused quite a stir but the goal was never to make users feel like they were being pressed into a secondary purchase. Hopefully Dropbox serves you well.
