logins are not saving past 287
I will save a login and its gone later in the day.

This is just an idea: Is there any chance your copy is not registered? When the trial period ends for 1Password from the AgileBits web store, your existing data remain accessible, but you cannot add new records or edit existing ones. What does it say when you click 1Password 5 > About 1Password?

If 1Password is running in trial mode and has expired, I would expect that the 1Password extension wouldn't offer to save new Login items in the first place (or would give you an appropriate message), but it's a good idea to check that, just in case. From the main 1Password app, the 1Password 5 > License menu option will let you know if you've applied your license or if it's in trial mode.
If you've already activated 1Password with your license, does "287" refer to the number of Login items you already have saved in 1Password? You said you can save a new Login but that later you notice it's missing. I'm assuming this has happened more than once, and possibly happens with every new Login item you save? After saving a new Login item, try opening the main 1Password app right away - do you see the new Login item? When you come back and check again later, has it disappeared?
