Panic stations...please help
Hi, please excuse me for not doing a search, I might not have much time left because my hard drive is clicking and I think it is about to die. Of course, the answer to that is to swap it out once it goes, but what is the best way to preserve all my saved passwords in 1password? Is backing my machine up to Time Machine enough? Should I copy the file 1Password file which is deposited in Dropbox to an external drive, is this any use?
Thanks

Your Time Machine backup will cover you. But I'd probably make my life even simpler by setting up and syncing to Dropbox or iCloud (this latter only if you bought your copy from the Mac App Store), if you haven't already done that. You'd be able to sync your new installation on the replacement drive when get it set up, and it would pull down your data with less fuss.
Another thing I would do is go to 1Password 5 > Preferences > Backup and click the button in the lower left that says Show Files. You'll be taken to where all the local backups reside. Copy those files to an external drive or flash drive.

Hi @rob_fnz,
I hope that Hawkmoth's answer has been helpful to you! If you're already syncing to Dropbox, then you have a copy of your data stored safely in the cloud, and that's a great start. Copying your backups folder as well is a great way to give yourself a little bit of extra protection.
In case it's helpful, here's where 1Password stores your data on your system:
if you purchased from the Mac App Store
Datafile: ~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Library/Data/OnePassword.sqlite
Backups: ~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Library/BackupsIf you purchased from the AgileBits Store
Datafile: ~/Library/Application Support/1Password\ 4/Data/OnePassword.sqlite
Backups: ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/Backups0
