My 1Password is not syncing between my Apple phone, iPad and iMac. I tried to follow your instructions, but it's not listed in my Favorites and Apple says to contact you.

Sorry but it's really difficult to help you without some of the information listed as Not Provided at the bottom of your post. Please tell us:

I'm not sure what you mean when you say:

it's not listed in my Favorites

What exactly is not listed and what list of favourites do you mean?

    Stephen

    Hello @mary_sleepless,

We will happily assist but some additional information as Stephen_C requested would really help. Like Stephen_C, I'm unsure what you're referring to when you mention Favourites - once we have a better idea and we're all on the same level we'll work with you to get it running smoothly

    I'm using 1Password5 for iMac
for iPad and iPhone, I'm on 1Password
I'm trying to sync with Dropbox
One of the steps listed in your directions is to find Dropbox under Favorites. I found it there today; I don't know why I didn't yesterday.

    Hello @mary_sleepless,

Okay, I think I'm catching up now  Depending on when you installed Dropbox it might be a reboot was needed - it's hard to say. All that really matters though is you're already making progress. So if you're trying to synchronise with Dropbox I'm guessing you're trying to follow the steps in our Sync with Dropbox guide? If you are, can you let us know how far along you are now as it sounds like you've surpassed the original stumbling block. If you run into any more trouble if you could let us know at what step and if you could describe how what you're seeing doesn't match with what we've said you should expect to see and we'll do our best to assist.

Hi, Okay now I'm in 1Password Preferences and have selected Primary vault with Dropbox but I don't see the "Open" as outlined in your #3. I checked to see if something I added this morning to my iMac has synced with my other two devices and it has not. Thanks for your help.

Also, I think part of the problem is, at least with my iPad, that it syncs with my iCloud and when I tried to change it over to Dropbox, it wanted to access all my files and folders and I didn't want it to. There was only one option that worked and that was "Allow."

    Greetings @mary_sleepless,

So just to let you know what that particular request is about. Dropbox designed a way to give very limited access to Dropbox to any single iOS app. They're allowed a single folder in a specific location and as long as they only read and write their they can happily exist with this limited access. Now 1Password on the various platforms has been around a while and some of the older versions still default to creating a Agile Keychain in the root of your Dropbox folder. Another cause for asking for full access is that while you may not specifically need it yourself, the only way to share vaults with other people is for 1Password for iOS to have full access to the Dropbox folder. All of it is simply so we can search multiple locations for possible Agile Keychain bundles.

Of course it's up to you whether or not you trust 1Password for iOS.

Now in step 4 of the linked guide it does mention an Open button but no matter what troubles you're having elsewhere that button should always exist because it's part of the Finder window. If you've followed one of the links in the guide I linked you could you let us know which one please as it may be I'm mixing up where you are in the steps.

I'm right back where I started. I'm in Preferences and I chose Sync. My Primary is Dropbox and I don't see Open. Underneath Synch Primary vault with Dropbox I see a thin line with four untitled little blue boxes. The fifth little blue box says 1Password and the last one is a darker blue box that says 1Password.agilekeychain. I'm lost! Also, for what tis' worth, in my Dropbox account I see that 1Password has been deleted. I can't remember if in talking with the Apple rep about a problem I'm having, if we didn't delete the old 1Password so I would only have 1Password5 around. Help!

    Hi @mary_sleepless,

I'm sorry this has been so frustrating for you! I'm sure we can help to get this all straightened out.

Underneath Synch Primary vault with Dropbox I see a thin line with four untitled little blue boxes. The fifth little blue box says 1Password and the last one is a darker blue box that says 1Password.agilekeychain.

That "thin line" shows the file path/location of your 1Password sync file. The "little blue boxes" are actually small folder icons. If you don't see the folder names, there's probably not enough room to show them - but if you hover your mouse over each folder icon, it should expand to show their names. The "darker blue box" is the icon for your 1Password sync file, which is named 1Password.agilekeychain. As long as that file is located somewhere within the Dropbox folder on your Mac, it sounds like you have it set up correctly there.

...in my Dropbox account I see that 1Password has been deleted.

Do you mean you're seeing that in your Dropbox account on the dropbox.com website? If so, I wonder if that's a little out of date. You can try refreshing that page to see if it now shows a copy of the 1Password.agilekeychain in the same folder as on your Mac.

Aside from that, it sounds like Dropbox sync is set up correctly in the Sync preferences in 1Password on your Mac. If so, underneath the file path to the 1Password.agilekeychain file, does it say anything about how long ago it synced? For example, when I check those settings in 1Password on my Mac right now, it says "Last synced: 16 minutes ago". If you see something like that, it should mean you have it set up correctly in 1Password on your Mac.

If so, the next thing to do is set up Dropbox sync on your iPad and iPhone. You previously said you tried switching from iCloud sync to Dropbox sync but stopped when you were asked to allow 1Password access to Dropbox. As littlebobbytables explained, that's normal, and necessary in order to set up Dropbox sync. If you're interested, we have more information about that here: Why does 1Password need access to all my Dropbox files and folders?

Once you set up Dropbox sync in 1Password on your iOS devices, does it work? Let us know how it all goes, thanks!

Hi, In my Dropbox I have 1Password.agilekeychain. On both my phone and my iPad I have switched to Dropbox and synced. I just now synced my iPad. It has 92 items and my main computer has 112. I just don't get it! Thank you!

    Hi @mary_sleepless,

That's a bit unexpected, but I think we're making a lot of progress!

At this point, I think the best way to figure out the problem will be for you to create Diagnostics Reports from your Mac, iPhone, and iPad:

    —Mac—
    https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/mac.html

    —iOS—
    https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/ios.html

Attach the Diagnostics Reports to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Reports in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email(s), along with your forum username so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your reports in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the reports and make sure you receive a reply as quickly as possible.

Once we see the reports, I think we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance! :)

Before I do that, I am wondering the following:
On my iMac I have 1Password5 and on my iPhone and iPad I have 1Password. Dropbox says 1Password.
    Shouldn't they all be 1Password5?
    Thanks!

    Hi @mary_sleepless,

No worries, that all checks out. "1Password 5" is the title of the Mac app when you download it from our website, but in the App Stores (Mac and iOS) it's simply called "1Password." And the folder in Dropbox should be called 1Password. :+1:

    Sorry for the confusion!

Sounds good, @mary_sleepless. Take your time, but please do post the Support ID numbers here when you get the automated reply from your emails, so we can make sure we connect them to this discussion. Then hopefully we can help you sort this all out for good. Cheers! :)

Vee, Just one more thing I've learned before going ahead and getting the information you requested earlier. My iPhone and my iPad are syncing with each other, but neither is syncing with my primary iMac. Also, I'm wondering if I can use iCloud as my primary and if that would clear things up, rather than having Dropbox be my primary. Thanks!

    Hi @mary_sleepless,

You can use iCloud to sync your data between Mac and iOS devices if you bought 1Password for Mac from the Mac App Store.

We'll be better equipped to help you figure out why the devices are not syncing properly when we can have a look at those Diagnostics Reports as requested in Drew's post above. Thanks in advance!

Vee, When I did further checking, I found this:

It is also only possible to sync your primary vault with iCloud. If you have multiple vaults, you may sync additional vaults with Dropbox or Wi-Fi Sync.

Doesn't that mean I can only sync my iMac with iCloud? I bought 1Password from the Apple App store. However, when I look at 1Password sync options, iCloud is not there. Okay, 'nut said -- I'll set about getting you what you want,

No. This is about vaults, not devices. Your Primary vault is the main vault that holds your logins and passwords, etc. You can only sync one vault between your devices, but you can sync that one vault on as many Mac and iOS devices as you want. So this is not necessarily related to the iCloud sync problem you're having. Your issue is probably something to do with the sync settings or configuration, which is what we will check in the Diagnostics Reports. Thanks!

Hi Vee, Just to clarify. It's a Dropbox sync problem I seem to be having. iCloud is not an option for me. Your reports have been sent. Thank you!

Whoops! Sorry, @mary_sleepless, I knew that. Guess I just got myself confused for a minute. :)

Thanks for sending those reports. I'm going to go ahead and close this forum thread to avoid getting wires crossed, and we'll keep the conversation going via email until we find a resolution for you. Thanks!
