Web page requiring 1 username and 2 passwords
Hello, I recently read about an issue on the forum regarding web sites that require 1 username and 2 passwords. 1Password is not filling in the second password on this site. It is the identical web site referenced in that post that I am having trouble with and the forum moderator, in one of his replies, stated that this was an open bug report. For simplicity on the computers I use at work, the passwords I have chosen for both fields are identical and this is what seems to be causing the issue. I have tried manually saving the login and all of the numerous other suggestions but nothing seems to help. Has there been any progress trying to fix this issue?

Hi @ordfo,
I suspect I might have posted in whatever thread you're referring to. Certainly I am aware of a site where there are two password fields that are required to contain the same value and where we currently fail to fill. I reported the issue 4 days ago but the developers haven't had a chance to look into it yet I'm afraid. This is an unusual site, I've never come across a site that requests confirmation of a password before for logging in. Certainly for confirming a password change but the login is very unusual. Unfortunately I can't give an ETA on when a fix might appear.

The unusual thing about this is that if even one character is changed in either password, they both fill in correctly. Why having two identical passwords would cause a problem is odd..... Thanks for the help. Hopefully, a fix can be found. I think I originally reported this issue back in June, 2014

You're quite right @ordfo, it is unusual and it might come down to something about registration pages but I don't know for certain, it's just a thought I had. We do try to avoid saving Login items for registration pages or change password pages so maybe it's a defence that is caught out by these rare occurrences. I want to learn the answer myself because it is weird. We've got a few extension tasks that need completed but this is one of those things I'd love to see attended to after that. Is the page publicly accessible to everyone and have you reported the URL at all in the past? I ask just in case the reason we're not filling is important and we need to identify a workaround for this page.

The web site is a proprietary company web site that is definitely not one that can be accessed by the public. It is one that you have previously looked at back in September, 2014

Hello @ordfo,
All that matters is the login page is visible (which it seems to be). Now with the other site discussed recently the two fields must be the same, one is a confirmation for the other (extremely rare to see on a Login page). The page you're referring to seems to be asking for two passwords that seem to have the option of being changed independently, is there a requirement that they're the same?

No, there is no requirement for both passwords to be the same but for ease of use I use the same password for both fields.

@ordfo: It sounds like you might have something there! After all, if using a unique password for each allows 1Password to fill it...well, that's a win, both for security and for ease of use, since 1Password will be able to fill them both for you. Nice! :chuffed:

I guess I'll respond with a qualified "yes, but.....". I literally have the occasion to use one of several thousand company computers located in spots all over the world. Obviously, none of them have my 1Password information so I must think up easier, more memorable passwords anyway. It would be nice if when using my personal computers, it functioned properly. Please don't misunderstand; 1Password is the best program of it's kind. I would just like it to work all of the time on the sites I frequent the most. Again, I appreciate your efforts.

@ordfo: Ah, understood. Thanks so much for your kind words, and we appreciate the feedback! We'll continue to work on this problem, and be sure to report this and any other issues you encounter using our Synapse website issue tracker. Especially in cases where we don't have logins ourselves, it can give the development team some useful information about the form that we can use to improve 1Password in the future. Cheers! :)
