I have synced with my iphone from my Mac but now it is not working for the laptop mac air.
I synced to my iphone from my iMac using icloud but it is not working for the Mac air. I deleted icloud data and reset but it still does not work. The correct number of items appears on the Mac Air but it says unnamed beside each and they are all blanked out so there is no information visible.
1Password Version: 5.3
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: os x 10.10.5
Sync Type: iCloud

Hi @davidcoco,
That's very strange, I'm sorry you're having trouble with iCloud sync on your MacBook Air!
I deleted icloud data and reset but it still does not work.
What steps did you take to do that, and on which device? After doing that, does iCloud sync still work correctly between your iMac and iPhone? If you're not sure, please make a change (i.e. add a new item, edit an existing item, etc) on either your iMac or iPhone, and see if that change syncs to the other.
The correct number of items appears on the Mac Air but it says unnamed beside each and they are all blanked out so there is no information visible.
Did that happen before you deleted/reset iCloud data, or only afterwards? If the "unnamed" items only happened after resetting iCloud data, what was the original problem that was happening before that?
Do you have all your latest 1Password data on your iMac? If so, you should make a new backup (just as a precaution). On your iMac, open 1Password and go to File > Backup. That will open the Backup preferences window and show all your backups, including the new one.
In addition to the questions above, it will help if you can let us know a few additional details about your setup:
- What version of Mac OS X is running on each Mac? (You indicated 10.10.5 but I'm not sure which Mac that refers to, or if they're both the same.)
- What exact version of the 1Password app is installed on your Mac? (Again, you mentioned 5.3, but I'd like to make sure if that's the same on both Macs.)
- What exact version of 1Password is installed on your iPhone?
Thanks in advance! Once we have a bit more information, we should have a better idea of how to get this all working correctly for you.

I used the Reset iCloud Data under Troubleshooting on iMac. And I did a test today as you suggested and changed an item on iMac and the change does not show up on iPhone. Now after a day of testing 1Password on all three devices the number of items is no longer the same either (all three different now). So the three are not syncing.===

That was before and after the iCloud data reset.

All 1Password data is on the iMac and I just did a new backup.

both are 5.3
What exact version of 1Password is installed on your iPhone?
5.4.3

One other clue that might help. I suspect that I have two different vaults floating around. When I ask it to sync it comes up and says there are two vaults and asks if I want to unlock and merge. I selected yes - I can tell they are different because the password hint is different.thanks a lot..
Thanks in advance! Once we have a bit more information, we should have a better idea of how to get this all working correctly for you.

Hi @davidcoco,
Thank you very much for all the information! It sounds like there are two main issues right now - iCloud sync isn't working between your Macs or iPhone at all, and all the items in 1Password on your Mac Air appear as "unnamed" and don't show any of the item details.
So the first thing we should do is try to get iCloud sync working between your iMac and iPhone again. Before we do that, just a quick note about the last thing you mentioned:
When I ask it to sync it comes up and says there are two vaults and asks if I want to unlock and merge. I selected yes - I can tell they are different because the password hint is different.
It sounds like this happens when you try to enable (or re-enable) iCloud sync on one of your devices? If so, the two vaults it refers to are the one in iCloud and the one stored locally on that device. I'm not sure why the password hint is different, though. I'm also a little surprised that you're getting that message, because you had reset your 1Password data in iCloud. But I think my troubleshooting steps will help to take care of that.
To start, please follow these steps to reset your 1Password data in iCloud again (we'll try doing it from each device just to be thorough):
On your iMac:
- Open 1Password and go to Help > Troubleshooting > Reset iCloud Data.
- Click the button for Yes, Remove Remote Data.
- You should see a message that confirms the data was reset and sync was disabled (click OK).
- Restart your iMac.
On your Mac Air:
- Repeat the above steps to reset iCloud data.
On your iPhone:
- Open 1Password and go to Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Advanced, then scroll down and tap Erase iCloud Data (confirm you want to Reset iCloud Data).
- After a moment or two, you should see a message confirming the data was reset and sync was disabled (tap OK).
- Reboot your iPhone.
Next, check to make sure you're using the same iCloud account on all three devices:
- On your iMac: Open the System Preferences app and select iCloud.
- On your Mac Air: Open the System Preferences app and select iCloud.
- On your iPhone: Open the Settings app, then scroll down and select iCloud.
Your Apple ID (email address) needs to be exactly the same in the iCloud settings on all three. If it is, try re-enabling iCloud sync on your iMac and iPhone:
On your iMac:
- Open 1Password and go to 1Password > Preferences > Sync.
- Set up iCloud sync again (you should not be asked to merge any data).
- Allow the sync to complete.
On your iPhone:
- Open 1Password and go to Settings > Sync > Start Syncing > Sync with iCloud.
- During the setup, you should be asked to merge data (go ahead and merge).
- Allow the sync to complete.
Hopefully iCloud sync is working again between your iMac and iPhone.
As for your Mac Air, since something seems to be wrong with the data in your vault there, please reset it by following the steps in this knowledgebase article. After those steps, the next time you open 1Password on your Mac Air, you should be able to click the "I've used 1Password before" button and then choose iCloud to sync your data.
I know it's a lot of steps, but I think that should take care of the issues you've been having. Please let us know how it all goes and if you have any questions about any of that. Thanks!

Making some progress. I was able to sync the iMac and iPhone using your steps.
However, I am still not able to remove the old vault from my Mac Air. I close 1P and 1P mini, moved the folder as specified to the desktop (and to trash), restart computer, I did a secure empty trash, and then when I open 1P up again it asks me for my password. I enter it and I do not see anything in the vault, but when I try to sync via iCloud, it always wants to merge with existing (empty vault) and the two vaults have slightly different hints (but password is the same). I tried Permissions Repair just to make sure.
Is there a way to way to start all over and remove all traces of 1P from this computer? I am familiar with Terminal commands but not sure what to look for.
thanks

Hi @davidcoco,
It's good you were able to make some progress! I think we're very close to getting things all sorted out.
On your Mac Air, if you followed the starting over steps but you're still asked for a master password immediately the next time you open 1Password, that means it's still finding data on that Mac. I'm assuming you followed the steps to remove data for the Mac App Store version of 1Password, but I see that you previously purchased a license for the AgileBits Store version. That was refunded so you could buy the Mac App Store version, but if you had installed the AgileBits Store version on your Mac Air at some point, it would have created a separate database that the Mac App Store version is probably finding now.
In that case, what you'll need to do is follow the steps to start over on your Mac Air again, but this time make sure you follow the steps to remove data for both the Mac App Store and AgileBits Store versions. Then, the next time you open 1Password, it shouldn't find any local data, but should allow you to sync your data from iCloud.
Hopefully that's the final, missing piece of the puzzle. Please let us know how that goes! :)

That worked. Apparently the AgileBits version was still there on iMac. The only thing I had to add was that it required a computer reboot before it would work.
thanks for your expert guidance.

It's great to hear things are now working properly @davidcoco and it looks like @Drew_AG managed to navigate you through all of the pitfalls. Hopefully 1Password runs more smoothly for you now
