Syncing through iCloud

How can I determine if I purchased 1Password through iTunes or your website? If I purchased through your website is there absolutely no way to sync through iCloud?

You can tell where your copy came from by going to 1Password 5 > About 1Password... in your menu bar when 1Password is open.

There is no way to sync with iCloud if yours is from the AgileBits web store. Apple does not allow applications that they do not sell themselves through one of their App Stores, to have access to the required protocols.

If iCloud is important to you, and you don't already have a license from the Mac App Store, when did you buy your license from AgileBits? If it's within the past 30 days, they will issue you a refund so you can buy a copy from Apple. Otherwise, you would need to buy a copy from Apple to get access to iCloud for 1Password syncing. It wouldn't be worth the added expense to me, but it may be to you.

    Hi @tmnovak,

I see that you purchased 1Password from our AgileBits Store in 2013. As hawkmoth said, we have a 30-day money-back guarantee, but you're a bit outside of that range. But if you would like to spring for the Mac App Store version for iCloud sync capability, now's a great time to do it! Starting today, we're running a sale on all versions of 1Password! Our "Work Smarter Sale" takes 30% off 1Password for Mac and Windows, and 50% off 1Password for iOS and Android.

However, if you just don't want to spend any more on 1Password, may I ask how (if at all) have you been syncing your 1Password data over these past couple years? Have you tried Dropbox sync? It's how I've always synced my 1Password data and still do. 1Password is secure by design and your 1Password data is end-to-end encrypted by your Master Password, so with regard to security there's no difference between syncing 1Password data with Dropbox or iCloud. 1Password simply doesn't depend on the security of either to protect your data.

Dropbox also has the advantage that it can be used to share vaults with friends, family, and co-workers, whereas it's not currently possible to share anything between iCloud accounts. iCloud sync is also limited to the Primary vault.

I hope this helps answer your question, but please let us know if there's anything else we can help you with! :)
