ESPN login not working [Resolved later with an extension reinstall for Firefox 40]

I am using Windows and Firefox. When I try to login into ESPN a separate small window pops in, I log in and save all that info into 1passowrd. But then when I try to use 1password later to log in, it does not work. Info does not get filled in either automatically, or by pressing Ctrl \

Is it just me or ESPN just doesn't work with 1 password?

Thanks

    Hi @Seech,

I'm not able to reproduce the problem using this URL in Firefox on Windows 10: https://espn.go.com/login/

Can you try saving a new Login item manually to see if it works. Enter the data manually but do not submit the form just yet, click on the 1Password icon to go to the Settings > Save New Login, gave it a name to indicate this is the newer Login item. Now, try to log in with this new Login, does it work better?

If yes, you can then delete the older one and keep the new one.

No, it does not work on my computer for some reason. All the other sites work but this one not. It saves the URL as https://cdn.registerdisney.go.com/ .....etc
It seems like it has no connection to ESPN site after that.

No matter how I save it, it either just does not open a tab at all when I choose it, or does not fill in the saved login and password.

    Hi @Seech,

I don't see anything related to that URL when I tried it. Are you at work or something that redirects you to a different ESPN page? Some networks have different pages because of their deals with ESPN, so that could be the reason I can't reproduce your issue.

If you open this page manually in Firefox: https://espn.go.com/login/, does it change the URL after it finishes loading? For me, it remains the same and 1Password does fill it in.

No, when I just go to that link, it stays the same, but when I save the login from it into 1password, it changes to cdn.registerdisney.go.com

Also, I don't know if it requires the same login info, but I need it to work with http://games.espn.go.com/frontpage (for fantasy stuff). It does not work either.

EDIT: I tried to uninstall the Firefox addon and tried to save the login manually. It seems to have worked so far. Thanks for your help.

So, my understanding is that no matter what page (espn fantasy team page) you want to go, first you need to go to https://espn.go.com/login/ for auto fill-in to work, right?

  • Hi @Seech,

    it changes to cdn.registerdisney.go.com

I just looked at the source code of the ESPN site, the Login form is loaded via iframe from a different server, cdn.registerdisney.go.com. You should see two URLs on the list for your Login, one for espn.go.com and the second one for cdn.registerdisney.go.com.

So, my understanding is that no matter what page (espn fantasy team page) you want to go, first you need to go to https://espn.go.com/login/ for auto fill-in to work, right?

It should work on any go.com sites, they're loading their Login forms from the same domain, cdn.registerdisney.go.com. So, as long as your Login item has this second domain on the list, it will work on any of these sites.

First, enable the multiple URLs support to make sure 1Password can use your ESPN login item on multiple URLs. Open the main 1Password program, unlock, and click on the Preferences button to go to the Logins section. Check the box next to Enable multiple URLs and save it.

Once you do that, try again on any of the ESPN sites, it should work with the same Login item now.

No, I does not work so far.

I did switch multiple URLs on. If I go to https://espn.go.com/login/ and manually create a login in 1 password, it works only if open exactly this page. But if I go directly to my fantasy team page instead (something like http://games.espn.go.com/fhl/leagueoffice?leagueId......), I need to manually click the login, a separate windows for login pops up but it does not get filled in. When I look at the info for the saved login in the main 1password program, it does show 2 URLs, the https://espn.go.com/login/ and https://cdn.registerdisney.go.com......etc But it does not help when I go directly to my team page.

  • Hi @Seech,

That's unusual, I can make it work on games.espn.go without any changes. Can you tell me which Firefox version you're using on Windows 10?

Also try this for me; edit the ESPN login item in the main 1Password program and under the URLs box, click on Add URL. Add http://go.com to the list and save it. Does this improve the filling on any espn.go.com sites?

Thanks for your help. I am using Firefox 40.0.2.

I tried again this morning and it worked. I hope it will be ok from now on. I dd not add the URL manually but the URL with my team page was there.

Thank you again for your help.
