Start over on 1Password 5 for Mac - Does not prompt to create new vault
I tested 1Password prior to purchasing it from the App Store. I have followed the instructions to start over in 1Password 5 (several times), and even deleted the files completely from the laptop, but it will not allow me to create a new vault upon startup. I do not know or can't seem to enter correctly the old master password. Now that I have purchased the software I can't see to use it. Please help!

@amking0: It's important to make sure you're following the correct instructions exactly, as they differ depending on which version you've been using:
Quit 1Password and 1Password mini.
Choose 1Password in the menubar. Hold down the control key on your keyboard and select “Quit 1Password and 1Password mini.”
Locate and remove 1Password’s data.
If you use the version of 1Password from the Mac App Store
1. Open the Finder and select Go > Go to folder from the menubar.
2. Copy the following text into the dialog box and click the Go button:~/Library/Containers
3. Locate the folder named2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper
and drag it onto your Desktop.
4. Reboot your Mac.But is there a reason that you're trying to get rid of your data? The Mac App Store version of 1Password can use the same vault that you created in the AgileBits Store version.
I hope this helps. if you're still having trouble, be sure to tell me the exact steps you're taking, and what is (or is not) happening the way you expect so we can figure out the best plan of action. Thanks in advance! :)

@brenty thanks for the reply. i have followed the instructions exactly and unfortunately it is not working. the reason i am trying to get rid of my data is i either do not remember the proper password or i can't seem to enter it correctly (the one i tested the application with a while back). i did not really input much data so its not a big deal and simply want to wipe the old vault out. is there another way i can COMPLETELY remove the application and its data from my system and then reinstall from the app store?
below is an image of what it looks like once i follow the instructions and reboot. the only options it wants to give is to unlock my vault which i of course can't do.

@mobetta14, @daren_howarth: Hey guys! Can you tell me a bit about exactly what you're trying to do? A private message will be necessary if there are specific instructions that only apply to you, but without any information whatsoever it'll be hard to get to that point. ;)
If you're just trying to start over with a new vault, just follow the steps in this guide:
Starting over
Otherwise let us know what's going on, and we'll be more than happy to help! :)

I have bought 1password on the mac. The master password is not being recognised - so I want to start over. When I follow all the instructions, even when I remove everything from my mac and redownload 1password, I STILL get prompted for master password. This is far from easy...and the stating over guide does not succeed...

We really do need some basic information in order to help with these problems if what has been suggested doesn't help. Crucially, please tell us:
- What version of 1P for Mac you are using
- Your OS X version number
- If relevant, what sync method you have used to sync your 1P data (Dropbox, iCloud or wifi)

Hi @daren_howarth,
I'm sorry this has been so difficult for you!
If you followed the steps in our starting over guide but are still being asked for your master password when you open the 1Password app, there's a very good chance you switched between the Mac App Store and AgileBits Store versions of 1Password at some point. If so, you'll need to remove the data for both of those versions, because each one looks for data from the other the first time you open it.
Please try the starting over steps again, this time following the steps to remove data for both the Mac App Store and AgileBits Store versions. Does that do the trick? Let us know how it goes for you, thanks! :)

thats the ticket Drew_ag many thanks - I had loaded the trial version and then bought the mac version - so doing the starter steps for both Agilebits store and Mac store versions worked. Thx again
