trail expired

I purchased 1Password for $8.99 in April of 2014. I run it on my iPhone and on my laptop with OSX. All of the sudden I'm getting 'trial expired' on my laptop. It's been working fine for over a year up until now.

I upgraded to Yosemite a few weeks ago in case that could be an issue.

Each platform requires a separately purchased license, so that means your iOS license does not cover your Mac installation. You don't say what version you are using on your Mac, but if you just upgraded to Yosemite and then installed 1Password 5, which only works with Yosemite, this could explain what you are seeing. There was a bug in version 4, which you would have been using before adding Yosemite, that allowed some users to continue to use an unlicensed copy. You probably were one of them, so you never were reminded that you needed to buy a Mac license too. Now you need to rectify that if you want to keep using the Mac version.

  • Greetings @scottt,

I think hawkmoth's response has you covered. We also have a page titled “Trial Expired” notice (Mac) although I'm not sure how much use it will be for you in this instance. What might prove more informative is our What licenses do I need to use 1Password on all my devices? Should you have any follow up questions at all though please do ask.
