1Password5 Sync & License Question
Issue 1: I'm having a hard time syncing 1Password 5 on my macbook air using OX 10.10.5 and iOS 8.4.1. In the phone settings in iOS everything looks to be working as should be, with the device saying the sync was successful. On the computer, on the sync menu, I am not even given the option for iCloud sync. Just a drop down box to sync the primary vault with "none, dropbox, or a folder". I was previously using wifi sync without an issue, but saw that there are added benefits to icloud sync (instantaneous, regardless of connecting to the same network) and would like to use it.
Issue 2: I've been having a lot of challenges with setting up 1Password--I purchased an older version a few years ago and had not used it until now. Through researching support on this site, I found instructions for creating a new vault ( I could not get into the old one) with the new 1Password 5. Just today I found that I'm using a trial version but that my license is not in here. I emailed to have it sent to me so that I could check to see if it's eligible for upgrade to 1Password 5, or if I even need to pay for the upgrade, but nothing has been sent to me yet. I'm wondering if somewhere I missed a step in the transfer (all old files have been deleted, so there's no sense is going back I guess) that's causing some of these challenges for me. Desperately need help to make sure I have all the proper software and settings in place. I definitely have purchased this program in the past, but am unable to find the email (It's been a long time since that purchase--easily almost 2 years). I think I'm using 5.5 on iOS but I'm not sure how to check the version number there.
1Password Version: 5.3.2
Extension Version: 4.4.3.90
OS Version: OS X 10.10.5
Sync Type: Not Provided

Hi @setfree949,
I'm sorry you're having trouble with iCloud sync, and with your license for 1Password on your Mac!
The reason you don't see an option for iCloud sync is that you're using the AgileBits Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac, but iCloud sync is only available in the Mac App Store version. That's because it uses Apple's new CloudKit technology, which can currently only be used by apps sold through Apple's App Store. We have more information here: I do not see the option to sync with iCloud in 1Password for Mac
Have you considered switching to Dropbox sync? Like iCloud sync, Dropbox sync doesn't depend on whether your Mac and iOS device are on the same network, and normally works very quickly. Dropbox also has the advantage that it can be used to share vaults with friends, family, and co-workers, whereas it's not currently possible to share anything between iCloud accounts. And it's the only single sync solution that works across all 1Password platforms: Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android.
As for 1Password 5 being in trial mode on your Mac, this knowledgebase article might be helpful. I also tried searching our system for the email address associated with your forum account but couldn't find any licenses for you (if that's the same email address you submitted to have your license info resent to you, that's why you didn't receive anything). If you think you may have purchased a license for 1Password for Mac from the AgileBits Store with a different email address, you can try submitting that address in the "I've lost my license" section of this site.
Or is it possible you originally purchased 1Password for Mac from the Mac App Store? In that case, you'll need to reinstall the Mac App Store version of 1Password (the trial mode is only in the AgileBits Store version). Just launch the Mac App Store, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to make the purchase, and reinstall 1Password from the Purchases section.
I'm sorry for any confusion about that! I hope this helps, but if you have more questions about that, please let us know. We're here for you! :)

Thanks @Drew_AG ! I'm pretty certain I purchased from the Agile Bits store and the only other email I can think of that I would have used is (email address remove to protect privacy). Searching that one did not turn up anything either. It looks like I'll have to repurchase :-/ Thanks for checking it out for me. Is there any way to search a license by address or something other than email? Nothing pops up for me in the Mac App Store, but again, I'm fairly certain I purchased from AgileBits. In the meantime I'll try out DropBox sync and definitely let you know if I need any other help with it. Have a great night! -Zenovia

@setfree949 - I removed that email to protect your privacy. I passed it on to AgileBits staff though, to help them search for your records.

@setfree949: I'm sorry that you're having trouble figuring out where you might have purchased 1Password and, well...that we are too. I'm afraid I checked both email addresses (and, I presume, your name) and came up empty-handed. :(
If you think you may have other information that might help us track it down (you should have an email receipt regardless of where you purchased it), please email us at support+licenses at agilebits dot com so we can take a look. Just be sure to include a link to this forum thread and your username in the email so we can 'connect the dots'. We will get to the bottom of this! :)

Thanks for your help @brenty and @hawkmoth. I'm pretty sure it's not something I made up but I am having no luck finding the license/email receipt in my email or within the app store. I'll just buy the license for the download that I have and keep on using the app. Your help has been much appreciated!!

Any time! It sounds like that may be the best course of action. You should be all set, but don't hesitate to reach out if we can be of further assistance. Cheers! :)

Hi @Brenty another question for you... To avoid an issue in the future, like if I change my email or something, can I buy the app from the Mac store? If so, how can I make sure my passwords & logins will still sync? Will the info synced in my iOS app connect with the 1password app for Mac? Thanks again for your help!

Hi @setfree949,
Sure, you can definitely purchase 1Password from the Mac App Store! We have a guide to help you switch from the AgileBits Store version to the Mac App Store version, and you can find that here: Switching to the version of 1Password from the Mac App Store
Basically, the first time you open the Mac App Store version, it should find your existing data from the AgileBits Store version, so the switch is very easy.
Once you have your data in the Mac App Store version, you'll need to re-enable one of the sync options. So if you had switched to Dropbox sync between your Mac and iOS device, you can choose Dropbox sync again. Or, with the Mac App Store version, you can use iCloud sync (which you had asked about in your first post). If you decide to try that, just make sure you switch to iCloud sync in 1Password on your iOS device, too.
If you need more help with that or anything else, just let us know. :)

@setfree949: Just keep in mind that changing your email will probably cause problems with your Apple ID, which your purchase is tied to when you buy from the Mac App Store. Just like changing home addresses, if you don't take the proper steps to prepare beforehand you probably won't receive all of your mail! :dizzy:
