I am getting the same error as jaredvork on June 4. Except iCloud instead of dropbox

I've been using 1Password on my iPhones and iPads as well as my work Macbook Air. I'm going to retire the Macbook and wanted to move my vault to my home iMac. I went to the App Store and downloaded 1Password and installed. It told me "We found your data in iCloud created by 1Password 4. Unlock it with your master password..." When I try that, I get the following error "Vault cannot be created. Vault with name default already exists"

I used spotlight to search for 1Password.agilekeychain but nothing found

I saw a post from jaredvork on June 4 stating that he had a similar problem, albeit with dropbox, and I assume it was solved offline. In any case, the thread has been closed.

  • Hi @JPShanghai,

Can I just clarify; you have a fresh copy of 1Password for Mac on your iMac, one that you never ran before and during the setup phase (the images on our page Sync existing iCloud data should corroborate this) you're receiving the error message about the vault already existing?

There hasn't been a common theme to the cause yet so we'd like you to also send in a diagnostic report please. This guide will assist.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums

The email address you will want to use is support+forum@agilebits.com.

When sending the diagnostic report to the address above it would help immensely if you could include a link to this thread and your forum handle so we can connect the two.

Once you've sent the report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. With access to the report we should be able to better assist you

OK, I just sent the diagnostic file (I'm only in front of this mac on the weekends). And to answer your questions above:
    1) I have a fresh copy of 1Password for Mac.
    2) I never ran that copy before (although I have attempted to run it several times by now)
    3) I am receiving the error message about “Vault with name default already exists”

    Thanks,
    -Jim

  • Hello @JPShanghai,

Thank you for sending in the diagnostic report, somebody should be in contact soon after they've had an opportunity to review it.
