Hi! I have a license key but when installing 1Password 5 I only see the option to upload a file. What am I missing?

    Hi @schmidtbenno,

I'm sorry for any confusion about that! 1Password 3 for Mac uses a license code for activation, but 1Password 4 and 5 for Mac use a license file. 1Password 4/5 is also a paid upgrade from 1Password 3 (unless you purchases a license for 1Password 3 for Mac from the AgileBits Store in 2013 or later). The following knowledgebase articles explain more about all that:

I tried searching our system for the email address associated with your forum account but couldn't find any licenses for you. If you purchased a license for 1Password for Mac from the AgileBits Store with a different email address, you can have your license resent to you from the "Can’t find your license?" section of either knowledgebase article above.

Or is it possible you purchased 1Password for Mac from the Mac App Store? In that case, you'll need to reinstall the Mac App Store version of 1Password (only the AgileBits Store version requires you to add your license). Just launch the Mac App Store, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to make the purchase, and reinstall 1Password from the Purchases section.

If you're still having trouble or have more questions about your license, please email us at support+licenses@agilebits.com about this, and let us know which email address we should be able to use to find your license in our system. You can include a link to this forum discussion in your email so our support team can get up to speed quickly and reply as soon as possible.

I hope this helps, but we're here for you if you have more questions! :)
