confirming workflow for 2nd vault
I just want to confirm my logic and approach is correct for the scenario...I want to have my primary vault with all my security info and then create a secondary value to house items necessary for my virtual assistant to use (things like instagram, Buffer, and other social site login info).
I need to:
- Create New Vault and assign a Master Password to share with my assistant
- Go to my primary vault and share the individual items I wish to share with my assistant
- If any info changes (password, notes, etc.) for a unique entry in my primary vault i need to reshare (copy) the item from my primary vault to my secondary (assistant's vault) again since info doesn't snyc between vaults.
Am i missing anything? Could i make the process easier in any way?

Hi @chadgraue,
It seems you have a good grasp on what you need to do. All I would ask is, is there a benefit in having the items in the secondary vault also in your primary vault? If they're only in the secondary vault that you're sharing with the assistant then they only need updated in one location. Other than that though you have the right concept.
For sharing an Agile Keychain we'd recommend Dropbox as you can share a folder between Dropbox users, that's the easiest way but I suspect you already knew that.

thanks @littlebobbytables .
well i commonly also use the items / log insthst i am assigning to a VA....i was thinking i wanted one vault with everything in it that syncs via dropbox with all my devices. but i'm assuming after reading your comment that i could seeminglessly toggle to the secondary vault to access those items...
although i/m not sure how that impacts by syncing....guessing i'd need to setup dropbox sync with that vault..

Greetings @chadgraue,
That's correct. After you've created the secondary vault and you use Dropbox to share it with your assistant there is nothing stopping you from also syncing that secondary vault to all of your own devices so that both vaults are everywhere. After that it's just about remembering to switch vaults as is necessary. I actually split my own items over two vaults, personal and business and sync both to my devices. The logical divide is worth it to me as it isn't about sharing with others. Then there are the vaults we share between members of the team here at AgileBits where again, the items only live in that one vault so that the one copy each person has is always up to date with any changes made by everybody.
Now of course if you prefer you can keep the items in your primary vault as long as you remember to ensure both are the same. The reason I'm not massively a fan of this is because it isn't automated and my memory can be woeful at times. It's a preference thing though and it's whatever works for you. Please note though that the copy and move commands do not merge items which one day I hope they will so if you did keep two copies and had changes in both, one would have the changes overwritten by the other. I feel it's best you know that rather than risk a nasty surprise later.
The last sentence makes me ponder, are you using Dropbox sync at the moment for your primary vault? If you're unsure about anything there please do ask as we're here to help

Understood.....and yes. I use dropbox currently. My wife and I both access our primary vault across 5 devices (2 iphones, 1 macbook pro, 1 minimac and 1 ipad). Would i use the same dropbox folder/file to backup vault 2 that I do vault 1 or create a seperate folder/file for vault 2??
Thanks @littlebobbytables

Hi @chadgraue,
That's actually a really good question! If you share your Primary vault with your wife, and you'll be sharing your secondary vault with your assistant, you'll probably want to create a new folder somewhere in Dropbox that you use to share the secondary vault. This is because you share a folder containing a .agilekeychain file, and not the individual keychain file itself. Therefore, if both keychains were in the same, shared folder, they would both be shared with your wife, and they would both be shared with your assistant.
Now, that's not necessarily a problem because even if you share the folder containing your Primary vault with your assistant, they won't be able to unlock it without your master password for that vault. So it's really your choice. But to avoid confusion, I recommend creating a new folder that will be shared with your assistant, as described in our steps to share a vault with someone else.
Does that make sense? We're here for you if you have more questions about that! :)

Hi @chadgraue,
I'm so glad to hear we're getting things sorted out here! Unfortunately, at this time, renaming vaults is a bit tricky. First of all, it is not possible to rename your primary vault. Renaming your secondary vaults will require you to re-create that vault with the name that you want. You're certainly not alone in desiring a bit more flexibility here - we have feature requests open for the ability to rename vaults, and I'll be happy to add your vote to the issue in our internal tracker.
