WiFi sync worked without being on WiFi

I just performed a WiFi sync between my Mac desktop and iPhone. Curiously, the Mac was not using WiFi at the time... it was hard wired through the LAN. Yet, it worked perfectly.

How is this possible?

    Hi @mrp777,

Good question! Although it's called "Wi-Fi sync", your Mac doesn't actually have to be connected to the network via Wi-Fi - what matters is that your Mac and iPhone are connected to the same network so they can find each other and transfer your data. That network needs to be Wi-Fi enabled though, because that's the only way the iPhone can connect to it.

I hope that helps, but if you have more questions, please let us know. :)
