Hi @egleixner,
Sorry you're having trouble installing the 1Password extension in Safari. Can you please give us a bit more information so that we can help you better?
- What version of 1Password are you using?
- Exactly what steps did you take before the error message appeared?
- What exactly does the error message say? A screenshot would be very helpful here.
Thanks in advance!

- 5.3(530029) from Apple
- I followed the procedure defined in setting up the extension. I don't know how but the file was posted to google and it opened ok. But I use safari. When trying to install extension again, I got an error message stating the file has been moved again and cannot be installed. Is there a way to go back?

Hi @egleixner,
I noticed you opened a few different discussions for this same issues, so I merged them all into the same thread to avoid confusion.
Thanks for the answers to Vee's questions! I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean here:
I don't know how but the file was posted to google and it opened ok.
Do you mean you installed the 1Password extension in Chrome? If so, that would have been the Chrome version of the 1Password extension, which won't work in Safari. To install the correct version of the 1Password extension in Safari, follow these steps:
- Open the following link in Safari: https://agilebits.com/onepassword/extensions
- You should see a message that says "Press the Big Green Button to install the 1Password Safari extension."
- Click the big green Install button.
- Follow any additional steps to complete the installation of the extension in Safari.
Does that help? If not, please let us know exactly what happens instead. The more details you can give us, the better. If possible, it would be great to see a screenshot of the error message you receive. Thanks!

Hi @egleixner,
Thanks, but I'm afraid your screenshot didn't come through, it only shows the date and time and not the actual image. Can you please try again? To include a screenshot in your reply, you'll need to click the document button in the top of the comment field, and select the file you wish to share:
I'm sorry for the confusion about that! Hopefully we'll have a better idea of what's happening once we can see that message. Thanks!

Hi @egleixner,
Safari behaves a little differently where it will download the file to your Downloads folder. In contrast when you click the link for Chrome it installs the extension automatically.
Here is what I would recommend.
- Open a Finder window and select your Downloads folder, it should be in Finder's Sidebar.
- You may have one or more copies of the Safari extension there. I would recommend moving them all to your Trash.
- Download a fresh copy using Safari. After you click the big green button titled Install it just downloads the extension to your Downloads folder.
- This should result in a single copy of the Safari Extension in your Downloads folder, this will be the one you just downloaded.
- Double click on the extension from inside the Finder window. This should start the installation process as OS X will pass the extension to Safari to install (and not just download).
Does this make any difference at all? Please do let us know

I unsuccessfully tried to follow your instructions. I opened finder but there is no folder named downloads. I searched all the files many times but didn't find 1password safari extension. The only downloads were listed on the screen shots but they have the incorrect numbers.
Please help. I'm getting ready to give up using 1password.0 -
