No Initial Sync Options between iPhone and Mac are working - help
I've been using the 1password app on my iPhone for a long time. I wanted to be able to have the information on my Mac as well so I've just purchased the $40 OPTION of 1password 4 for my Mac.
I've tried every option for the initial sync and set up of my data - and each one has an issues:
1) Wi-Fi. i open the wifi option on both devices. They both give me a code and neither one gives me a place to enter it.
2) iCloud: the iPhone app does not have an iCloud option under syncing
3) Drop box: while i can open drop box on every computer I own with a successful password, when I use that password from the iPhone sync, it tells me the password is not correct. I get a "null"
Please provide your suggestions.
thanks

@tnc250: Sorry for the confusion. There are a few limitations when you're using different combinations of old OS and 1Password versions. I'll give you a brief overview here of how to get up-and-syncing, but if you have any trouble at all, telling me all of the OS, 1Password, and device versions you're using, the exact steps you're taking, and what is (or is not) happening as you expect, I'll be able to better assist you.
- As for Wi-Fi Sync setup, this is where you enter [the secret code from 1Password for Mac into 1Password for iOS:
- iCloud Sync is only available between the Mac App Store version of 1Password on Yosemite and 1Password on iOS 8.
- It sounds like you might be using the old 1Password touch version 3. Back in 2013, Dropbox discontinued the API which the old app was using, so it simply won't get a valid response from Dropbox anymore and therefore can no longer sync that way.
If this is in fact the version of 1Password you're using, 1Password 3 Wi-Fi Sync only works with 1Password 3. 1Password 4 Wi-Fi Sync was rewritten from the ground up and works between 1Password 4 and 5 on all platforms.
Let me know some more details about your setup and I'll be better equipped to help. Thanks in advance! :)

the iPhone version I am using is 1password version 3.7.2, nov 2012. do I need to upgrade it? this is where all of my data is stored.
I purchased the mac version on your website (i think?) the version is 1password 4 version 4.4.3 agile web store. I only purchased it yesterday for the sole purpose of connecting the data on my iPhone. so if this will not work, i will be happy to return it.
I'm in a bind here bc need to back up the data on my phone ASAP as the phone is dying and I am replacing it.

Bump - Can someone please respond? I have to send my phone back tomorrow and need to make sure I am backed up prior to doing so. I've just paid for the mac version, in order to sync. Please help. Is there a customer service number i can call to get someone to help me with this issue?

Hi @tnc250,
Thanks for those additional details! Sorry we weren't able to get back to you sooner, since you don't have too much time with your current iPhone. Before doing anything else, you'll want to save a backup of the 1Password data from your iPhone to your Mac, and we have steps to do that here: Backing up and restoring data in 1Password 3 for iOS
Once you have that backup file on your Mac, make sure it's safe!
So, as far as upgrade & sync options go: You're using 1Password 3 for iOS which is a few years old now and was replaced by 1Password 4 for iOS in late 2012 (and we actually just released 1Password 6 for iOS yesterday). That older version doesn't have any compatible sync options with 1Password 4 (or higher) for Mac, but if you can upgrade to version 4 or higher on your iPhone, you'll definitely be able to sync it with your Mac.
Your ability to upgrade 1Password on your iPhone will actually depend on the version of iOS it's running. If you're not sure, open the Settings app on your iPhone, and go to General > About. What version of iOS do you see there? You'll need to be running iOS 6 or higher in order to be able to install a newer version of 1Password. If it's running iOS 5 or lower, what model iPhone is that? If it's an older model that can't run iOS 6 or higher, will its replacement be a newer model?
Looking forward to hearing back from you! :)
