Dropbox Sync is "sort of?" working?

Basically if I go to my preferences, I see Sync Primary Vault with None.

I change the dropdown to Dropbox.

I click choose and pick a folder.

Then I can either do, Create New, or Merge with Existing (since the file is there)

I click either.. and....... nothing. (the window never closes or anything).

The file IS updated on dropbox. It IS up to date. By the preference box NEVER changs from NONE each time I go back.

So, whats up?

I'm sorry to hear Dropbox sync isn't working properly for you!

To make sure I understand - it sounds like you already have a .agilekeychain file in Dropbox on your Mac, and you're trying to re-enable Dropbox sync for your Primary vault because it is currently set to "None". When you change it from None to Dropbox and choose your Dropbox folder, you see buttons for Create New and Merge with Existing, but nothing happens when you click on either button. Is that correct?

If so, the part that seems odd to me is that you see Create New and Merge with Existing buttons at the same time, as it should be one or the other (along with a Cancel button). Or perhaps I misunderstood what you meant? If you do see both of those buttons at the same time, try choosing the exact .agilekeychain file in your Dropbox folder (instead of choosing just a folder containing that file). When you do that, you should get Cancel and Merge with Existing buttons - if so, does the Merge with Existing button work this time?

If it's still a problem, would you be able to take a screenshot of the dialog you see after choosing your Dropbox sync file? Thanks!

Hi Drew - thanks for responding.

Sorry, my initial comment wasn't clear enough.

My dropbox has a 1Password folder with a 1Password.agilekeychain (for primary vault) and another one for anothre vault.

What I meant to say, is that if I go to the preferences (it will say none). If I navigate to the 1Password folder, i'm presented with the Merge option (which makes sense). I click on it -- and the dialog doesn't close/nothing seems to happen.

If I navigate to a folder I made to test things, called say 'foo' (which then has no agilekeychain file in it), i'm correctly presented with the Create New option. I click on Create New, and the file appears in dropbox, but the dialog never closes etc.

Thus, since the dialog doesn't close/no errors seem to be generated.. it never STICKS that I want to sync to dropbox. But clearly the software is doing a file transfer when I click.

Does that make more sense?

So for either option (if I were to have gone to some other folder, so that last screenshot said Create New). Clicking on the button(s) (for either route/workflow) simply doesn't "do anything more".

So now i'm sort of stuck/no idea.. and i'm manually just backing up my file now.

Thanks for the clarification! I see what you mean now - you can get to the point where you see either the Create New or Merge with Existing button, but neither button seems to respond when you click on it (although clicking Create New actually does create a new .agilekeychain file in the selected folder). That's very strange!

In case you haven't already done so, please quit 1Password and reboot your Mac. After the Mac restarts, open 1Password and go to the Sync preferences. Assuming it still shows None for your Primary vault, is there any change in the behavior when you try to re-enable Dropbox and merge with the existing 1Password.agilekeychain file?

If the same thing happens after a reboot, I'm curious about a couple things that might help us figure out what's happening. First, I notice from your screenshots that you have 2 vaults in 1Password. Is the same problem happening for both vaults, or just the Primary?

Also, how do you exit the dialog to set up Dropbox sync if the Create New and Merge with Existing buttons don't work? You mentioned "the preference box NEVER changs from NONE each time I go back", so does that mean you need to click the Cancel button instead? Or are you doing something else in order to dismiss that dialog?

Finally, as a quick test, try choosing Folder as the sync option instead of Dropbox. It basically works the same way, but you'll need to choose another folder that is not in Dropbox (so for example, you can try choosing the Desktop). You should see the Create New button again - does it work when you click it? Or does it do the same thing as with Dropbox sync? I'm curious if the problem is specific to Dropbox sync or not.
