Suggestion for improvement

Services are beginning to add a second layer of security. One example is Protonmail, which requires a password and an encryption key. Currently 1password only allows for one "password" entry in the default entry (custom sections can of course handle more password entries). It'd be nice with an option to add an encryption key to the default entry, treated like a password entry. Another example would be a 2 factor authentication key, like Apple utilises. It would just look neater in the app, rather than keeping the key in a separate section - especially if one has more than one account entry.

  • Hi @easlinn,

If a page is requesting multiple passwords that are static in nature, so not a TOTP code for example, then if you save a Login item using our How to manually save a Login process it will correctly save all of the fields and unless we're having an issue with a particular site, fill them all in correctly. The trick here is without prior knowledge of the page, trying to fill anything but the standard username and password is hit and miss. How do we know which password goes into which field? When we save a Login item from within the browser we collect all sorts of information and that allows us to say password x goes with this field and password y goes with this one.

This however does require the data requested to be the same every time. We want to and I'm sure will eventually fill TOTP codes but the other possibility is where the information being requested each time changes e.g. one of 3 questions is asked. That's trickier as we would need a way to manually select one of x pieces of information and I think that would be just sightly automating copy and pasting.

How do you feel that relates to your query? I'm not a Protonmail user myself so I don't now the specifics about the encryption key you mentioned. I'm not sure how we could interact with Apple's 2FA though as that's a changing code that is supplied by Apple through one of their devices so I can't see that being automated at all unless I'm missing something. I look forward to your thoughts
