I have used the iOS 1Password for awhile, but only as a storage facility, not any of the advanced features. I have recently moved to a Mac at work, and we are allowed to use 1Password, and allowed to store personal passwords in it as well, but we are NOT allowed to store our work passwords on any personal devices that are not registered through the company policy with extra monitoring/controls placed on those personal devices. Understandable, and I do not wish to go through all that on my personal devices.

I am trialing the Mac version now, to determine how I can most readily make this work for my situation, and I was wondering if there's a way to have my work passwords in a secondary vault (already have that part established, as a trial) - and to have that secondary vault only synch to SOME of my iOS devices. Namely, my work phone, and not let it sync to my personal phone, ipad, or our home Mac.

Ideally I'd prefer to do a Wifi sync, but I believe we're allowed to do cloud or dropbox sync since it's encrypted in this instance (need to confirm that, but I believe it is the case.

1Password Version: 5.3.2
Extension Version: not compatible with FF 38.2.1
OS Version: OSX 10.10.5

@Jennifer_marple Regardless of the type of syncing you will use, 1Password keeps your data encrypted and secure.

Wi-Fi sync probably isn't going to be a viable option for you as it is controlled on the Mac side and if you set up a secondary vault to sync via Wi-Fi it will sync to every iOS device you have syncing via Wi-Fi. In other words, you cannot control which iOS device is syncing to that secondary vault when you use Wi-Fi syncing.

Dropbox syncing will work for you in this case. You setup Dropbox syncing on the secondary vault from 1Password 5 for Mac and it will be available (as an option) on all of your iOS devices. You simply sync whatever iOS devices you want to this secondary vault and the remaining iOS devices won't be syncing to it.

    Make sense?

Thanks. I haven't used a dropbox sync before - but I will give it a shot. How would I sync the primary in this case? Do I put them both on drop box separately, and just select only the primary one from my personal devices? This will probably make sense to me if I just go try it...I probably should do that rather than speculating :)

@Jennifer_marple I guess I should have included instructions. Would have reduced the need to speculate. :chuffed:

Here is how you setup Dropbox syncing on the Mac.

Once you have it setup on the Mac side, let Dropbox do its thing and sync, then you can setup Dropbox syncing on the iOS side (for the iOS devices you want syncing to this vault).
