Upgrading a small business licence.
I want to upgrade my version of 1Password to the latest version because the firefox plugin no longer works. I am on Version 3.8.20 (build 31499) and on a small business licence. When I add my licence key at https://agilebits.com/store/upgrade it tells me that there are four possible upgrades:
1password mac plus windows bundle
1password 5 for mac
1password 4 for windows
Knox for mac.
I am not sure which to select. For my own use, I need it for my mac laptop running Yosemite, an iphone 4s running latest iOS and an old ipad (generation 1) which can't go above version 5 of iOS. Will the ipad still be supported with the new version?
Also, if I upgrade, will this impact on my colleagues who are using the same licence key? I don't want to compromise them by upgrading my own software.
Finally, because my licence key is a shared one, the email address it is registered to will not match that of my app store account - does this matter?
Thanks,
Helen

@brighty: Sorry or the confusion! 1Password for iOS is completely separate, as iOS apps can only be sold through the App Store, which is owned and operated by Apple, not AgileBits.
As such, you can completely ignore the question of iOS, since you'll have to download 1Password for iOS from the App Store. It is a free app with an in-app purchase for Pro Features.
And if you use only Macs (not PCs), all you need from the AgileBits Store is 1Password 5 for Mac, which you can buy using the upgrade discount from your existing license. When you upgrade, the existing license will still be valid. But I'd encourage you to have the business owner pay for that upgrade if at all possible. Not only because it will save you some money, but also because then others in the small business can benefit as well! Feel free to email support+licenses@agilebits.com with any further questions. We're here for you! :)

Hi @brenty,
Thanks for your answers that clarifies things a bit. But I am still a little confused... does that mean when I upgrade you give a new licence key? And does that mean that for any existing iOS apps I have I'll need to enter the new licence key for them to continue to work?
If the person who orignally got the licence upgrades it, will that then mean everyone on the current licence can upgrade for free? And if I upgrade they can't?
Thanks,

Hi @brighty,
does that mean when I upgrade you give a new licence key?
Yes. 1Password 5 requires a license file, actually, so you will need a new separate license to make v5 work. Your existing v3 key will continue to work as normal and will not be affected by the upgrade purchase. And in fact, a v5 license automatically comes with a new v3 key, so you'll end up with two valid v3 keys!
And does that mean that for any existing iOS apps I have I'll need to enter the new licence key for them to continue to work?
No. The iOS app does not use a license key or file. Because it is available exclusively through the iOS App Store, that purchase is tied to the Apple ID that was used to buy it, and that's how we take care of licensing there. As brenty mentioned, the app is free, with an optional in-app purchase to unlock Pro Features. The in-app purchase only needs to be made once per Apple ID, then every device logged in with that Apple ID will have Pro Features unlocked.
If the person who orignally got the licence upgrades it, will that then mean everyone on the current licence can upgrade for free? And if I upgrade they can't?
I'm not quite sure what you're asking here, but I think I can clarify. When you "upgrade" a license, what that really means is you're buying a new license for a later version of 1Password, with a discount that we offer to existing customers. The new "upgrade" license is in addition to your existing license(s), and any existing license from a previous purchase will not be affected.
A license for 1Password is like a key in a lock. You have the lock (the app that you can download for free from our website), you put in the key (the license that you pay for in our store/business store), and then it is unlocked (out of Trial Mode). Once it is unlocked, it stays unlocked, and it does not lock again or require you to enter the license again.
A multi-seat site license can be used by as many people as it is purchased for. So if your company has 20 employees that want to use 1Password on Macs, the company should buy a 20-seat Mac site license. Now, I'm not 100% sure if the volume discount in the business store works with the upgrade discount for previous users, so I'd encourage you to email us about your business's specific license needs so we can give you the most accurate information, and the best price available: support+licenses@agilebits.com. Thanks!
