I can't license 1Password on my new Mac. Please help!

I have 1Password Version 3.8.22 installed on my old MacBook and it seems to be working fine. I purcahsed a new MacBook about a month ago, and installed 1Password 5 but it is now indicating that the trial has expired. Can I use my old license on my new computer? If so, how do I do this? If not, what are my options?

Please help!

Thanks,

Jim

  • Hi @Jim_G,

You are indeed licensed for 1Password 3 but 1Password 4 was a paid upgrade over 1Password 3. That's why you're unable to use your licence key to dismiss the trial expired message in 1Password 5. We don't always charge for new major versions, for example 1Password 5 was a free upgrade to all 1Password 4 customers but we did make 1Password 4 a paid upgrade.

Now you can use your 1Password 3 licence key to obtain an upgrade price (50% discount) at https://agilebits.com/store/upgrade but you're not forced to, your 1Password 3 licence is still valid and you could continue to use it. We have made a lot of improvements though that I hope would make the upgrade tempting. Before you do though, if the idea of iCloud Sync is something you deem important to you I would recommend reading this page, iCloud FAQs (starting with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite) as with the release of iCloud Drive only the Mac App Store version of 1Password can access the required iCloud frameworks.

Hopefully this helps but if I haven't fully answered your questions or you have any follow up questions do please ask
