Should I purchase a Mac App Store License now?

Hi,

I would like to add some Mac computers to my 1password account, and so was thinking of doing it via a Mac App Store purchase, in order to utilize iCloud sync.

However, with the release of 1Password 6 for iOS, I was wondering whether a major version for mac is also upcoming. I wouldn't want to pay now 49.99$ just to find out in a few days (or weeks, for that matter), that a newer major version is out, and I have to purchase is again.

Please advise,

Jon

  • Hi @multijon,

I'm really sorry but we can't comment on future updates here in the forums. All I can say is we're not aware of any compatibility issues between 1Password 5 for Mac and El Capitan (AKA OS X 10.11). I realise your question is a simple enough one and understandable, it's just the policy so I am sorry :(

The problem with buying from the App Store is that Apple provide no way of giving upgrade discounts, free upgrades for very recent purchase, etc.

Perhaps it is best to buy direct from AgileBits and use Dropbox sync, which has some advantages. That way you are sure to get a good deal on any paid upgrades.

Or buy from the App Store and take the risk.

  • Sadly it is true, there is no way to offer an individual, for any reason, a discount on the Mac App Store version. We can't offer existing users an update price, we can't offer somebody a discount just because, all we can do is occasionally put the Mac App Store version on sale which is what we do every so often in our own store anyway.
