Sync with alternative Dropbox account

Hi I'm having a bit of a sync nightmare. I have an iMac, a MacBook, iPhone & iPad & am trying to sync my data across all devices. Up to now I've been using Dropbox no problem but realised this morning that syncing to my iMac wasn't working because the login details of Dropbox on my iMac refer to my business account whereas on my phone, laptop & iPad I am logged into my personal Dropbox account so the two weren't talking to each other.

I tried to then sync to iCloud only to find that my Mac version of 1P doesn't support it (must have bought it direct from you rather than app store - but very frustrating nevertheless). I then thought I'd use the option of syncing to a file and created a folder in my iCloud Drive thinking this would solve the issue but then discovered that it's not possible to choose this option on my phone.

Without wishing to repurchase the app from the app store I'm back to trying to sync with Dropbox again but need to know how I can reference a dropbox account on my iMac that I'm not actually logged in to to be able to sync the file.

Thanks

    Hi @John_Harris,

I'm sorry you've been having trouble syncing your data across all 4 devices!

Since iCloud sync isn't an option in the AgileBits Store version of 1Password for Mac, you're right that Dropbox is your best option for syncing your 1Password data between your Macs and iOS devices. If you need to stay signed into your business Dropbox account on your iMac, what you can do is share your 1Password vault between both Dropbox accounts. We have steps to share a vault via Dropbox in this knowledgebase article.

Now, that article assumes you'll be sharing a secondary vault and that you haven't enabled Dropbox sync yet. You're already using Dropbox sync, and I'm assuming you would be sharing your Primary vault, so you don't need to follow the exact steps in that article, but the basic idea is the same - you need to share the folder within Dropbox that contains your .agilekeychain file. Once you've shared it, you should be able to see that .agilekeychain file in your business Dropbox account on your iMac, so you'll be able to sync that with 1Password on your iMac.

Hopefully this helps! Please let us know if you have any trouble with that, or if you have more questions. Thanks!
