Have valid license....cannot apply to 1password

I purchased a license for 1password 3 and I cannot apply it to the new one. I should be grandfathered into the newer version. I shouldn't have to pay for the same service twice!

You can get a discount on the new version when you upgrade. Or you can stay with the old version.

On the whole, more programs than not charge for major updates.

So, though I can understand why you feel as you do, I think your expectations are unrealistic.

    Hi @drbradfield,

I'm sorry for any confusion about that! When we released 1Password 4 for Mac a couple years ago (in October 2013), it was an all-new version of 1Password and was a paid upgrade from older versions, although customers who bought 1Password 3 during 2013 received a free upgrade. I found your purchase in our system and I see that you bought your license for version 3 back in 2011. Although you weren't eligible for a free upgrade to version 4/5, you can get a significant upgrade discount. Just visit our Upgrade Store and enter your license code to see your upgrade discount and license options.

If you don't want to purchase the upgrade, you can certainly continue to use 1Password 3 for Mac if you'd like. It's still a great product, even if it doesn't have all the latest bells and whistles. Your license for 1Password 3 will never expire and you can use it as long as your Mac's operating system supports it.

I hope that helps to clear up the confusion, but if you have more questions about that, please let us know! :)
