Retrieved License

This should be easy. I upgraded my IOS and reinstalled 1Password. Retrieved license number as I have done in the pass. When I click to install it, it defaults to my documents folder where it's looking for a whole file rather than allow me to do a cut/paste of the number.
I installed it on new Mac laptop at home and this was the procedure I used.
I'm on Yosemite 10.10.5 here at my office.
Thanks.

And what version of 1PW are you using now and what did you use previously?

Version 3 (which still works on 10.10.5 to a large extent) used a licence number. But versions 4 and 5 use a licence file.

Version 4 was a paid upgrade from version 3, and version 5 is a free upgrade from version 4.

It does rather sound as if you are trying to use version 5 while only having a licence for version 3. But some more details would let us work out the situation.

If you have installed version 5 and really don't want to pay for the upgrade, it is possible to go back to version3.

  • Hi @SanTrom,

So I checked our records and it seems you have a 1Password 3 for Mac licence, at least that is all that was connected to the email address you are using here in the forums. Now the bad news is 1Password 4 was a paid upgrade over 1Password 3 meaning your existing licence key won't work in either 1Password 4 or 5. So it's as danco was explaining, you can either return to using 1Password 3 for Mac (although as browsers and the OS have changed it has meant certain functionality is no longer working) or there is the option of using your 1Password licence key at Upgrades for Existing Licence Owners to obtain a discounted upgrade price.

If you have any questions at all about either option please do ask.

Thanks everyone. Another case of "user error" I'll upgrade license.

It's no problem at all, @SanTrom! Sorry this wasn't clearer for you in the first place. Thanks for taking the time to contact us here for clarification.

Enjoy the new upgrade! Here's the User Guide to get you started with 1Password 5 for Mac.

We'll be here to help if you need anything else. :)
