Why do passwords automatically change and how do websites know this?

When I try to enter them into 1Password for online banking, it automatically changes them, why?

  • @Lohman You should be asked to save them. When you update a password or enter a new one, 1Password asks you to update or add them. You can disable this if you'd like.

In the desktop apps, you disable 1Password asking you to save passwords by opening Preferences, clicking the Browser tab, and unchecking the Automatically ask to save new Logins option.

    Hi @Lohman,

Just to be clear: 1Password never automatically changes your passwords for you. So I'm not quite sure if I understand the problem you described. Can you please elaborate and give us more details about that? Are you trying to have 1Password fill your username/password on a banking site? Or are you trying to change an existing password on a website? Or are you trying to do something else? Please let us know exactly what you're trying to do, the exact steps you're taking to do that, what you expect to happen, and what you see happen instead. The more details, the better. Thanks, and looking forward to hearing back from you! :)
