Laptop won't sync. Nothing works

I recently had to get my laptop reformatted which meant I lost all my 1Password data, luckily I have the app on my phone so can still access my passwords via that. However, I cannot log back into my old account onto my laptop, I have tried syncing 1Password with Dropbox, nothing. Nothing I try works. Why won't it just let me log into my account? SO ANNOYING.

  • Hey @Evie!

Sorry you had to reformat your computer. Hopefully that fixed whatever was going on with it, though. :) What were you using to sync 1Password on your computer before? If you were using Dropbox, could you check the app on your phone to ensure that syncing is still enabled? To do this, head to Settings > Sync. Let me know what you find!

    Hi @Evie,

As penderworth explained, you should be able to use the same sync method you were previously using in order to sync your 1Password data from your iPhone back to your (reformatted) Mac. If you're not sure how you were syncing before, try checking the sync settings in 1Password on your iPhone, like penderworth mentioned.

Just to make sure there's no confusion about this: You don't actually have an "account" with us. 1Password never sends your password data to us, so we don't have it. By default, all your 1Password data is stored locally on the device where you use it. In order to sync your data between multiple devices (such as your iPhone and Mac), you can use one of the sync options such as iCloud or Dropbox. But other than that, there's no central server where you can log into any sort of 1Password account, because 1Password is not a web-based service.

If you're still having trouble syncing your data from your iPhone to your Mac and would like to use Dropbox sync, you can find steps to set that up at these links:
