iCloud Sync - iCloud Unavailable

I am trying to reenable syncing of my 1Password data to iCloud (it was working before but suddenly stopped) but I get the error that states that "iCloud is not available" - just as many other users have experienced. I have followed the troubleshooting steps in the Support FAQs (disabled and reenabled iCloud Drive, etc) and have reviewed a number of the suggestions in the forums but have still not been able to reenable syncing with iCloud on my Mac. I am successfully syncing between my iPhone and iPad but am unable to enable sync on my Mac.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi @tconlee,

I'm sorry to hear that you are continuing to have issues with getting iCloud to sync. Could you please try the following and let me know how it goes?

    1. Make a backup of your 1Password data on iOS like this: https://support.1password.com/ios-itunes-backups/ (You still want to do this if you can.)
    2. Make a backup of your 1Password data on your Mac: File > Backup
    3. Remove 1Password from your iOS device.
    4. Reinstall 1Password on your iOS device.
    5. When you open it, please choose "Create New Vault".
    6. Enter the same Master Password as before.
    7. Sync this new vault to iCloud. You shouldn't get any errors.
    8. Restore the backup from your Mac (the backup from step two) to your iOS device.

    9. Re-sync and it'll ask to merge the data. That's fine.

    10. Let it finish then you can try re-syncing your Mac to iCloud.

    @eva_s

Thanks for your reply on this. I have followed the steps that you detailed (twice) and I am still unable to enable iCloud syncing from my Mac. (see attached image).

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hi @tconlee,

After following the steps from eva_s, is iCloud sync still working correctly on your iPhone and iPad?

Also, I noticed your original message says you're using 1Password version 5.0.3 on your Mac. I'm guessing that was a typo, since the latest version of 1Password from the Mac App Store is 5.3, but can you confirm which version is installed?

If you haven't already done so, please try restarting your Mac to see if that helps. If it doesn't, are you having any other trouble with iCloud on your Mac? For example, if you open a Finder window and click on the iCloud Drive shortcut in the sidebar, do you have access to folders & files in there? (You won't see 1Password data in there, but if there was a problem accessing files in iCloud Drive, it could be related to the 1Password/iCloud sync issue.)

    Thanks!

I'm having similar difficulty, with a slightly different environment. I have two Macs (Macbook Pro, and iMac). I've gone through the steps given by eva_s above. My iPhone and my laptop both resync-merge ok, but my iMac still gets the "iCould is not available".

Yes, I've restarted all 3 devices. On the iMac I've checked to make sure in Preferences that iCloud Drive is enabled, in fact, I've disabled it, and reenabled it. Also on the iMac, I've navigated to the iCloud drive in the Finder sidebar and verified that I can poke around on the drive, creating and deleting folders.

Any ideas? Maybe there's some cached stuff on the iMac I can delete?

    Hi @zoomo,

I'm sorry you're also getting the "iCould is not available" message! As long as iCloud is actually available, this should no longer be a problem, as there have been changes in the latest updates for 1Password on Mac and iOS that should avoid the same situation unless iCloud is legitimately unavailable. To help us figure out what's going on, can you please let us know some more details about your setup:

    • What version of OS X is running on each Mac?
    • What exact version of the 1Password app is installed on each Mac?
    • What exact version of 1Password is installed on your iPhone?
    • Were you previously getting the "iCould is not available" error on your MacBook Pro as well?
    • Were you previously getting any iCloud errors in 1Password on your iPhone?
    • Where is your most up-to-date 1Password information?
    • On your iMac, are you getting the exact same error as shown in the screenshot from this post?

    Thanks!
