Used Agile site to purchase as I was upgrading from IP 3. To use Icloud to sync will I have to delete upgrade and download from Apple? If so will i have to pay again on Apple site?

Unfortunately, due to Apple's restrictions, you would have to pay again if you want iCloud sync.

Unless you have strong reasons to prefer iCloud sync, the recommendation (mine and that of AgileBits) is to use Dropbox sync, which even has technical advantages over iCloud.

    (similar situation as the OP...)

After having been very excited to get my OS X version of 1Password after purchasing the iOS "Pro" version, I have to say that I'm disappointed to have been guided/directed toward the Web purchase because of 30% discount which I was never even given the opportunity to apply. Ok - I'll take that hit.

However, I am extremely disappointed to find out that with the direct web purchase, I am unable to use iCloud, which was the main reason I switched to this platform. (I'm not a fan of DropBox and have had serious service issues with them, personally.)

Your checkout page should show in no uncertain terms, in BIG, RED, BOLD print - "if you purchase here, you CANNOT use iCloud."

Highly frustrated. However, I'm looking to see if AgileBits can redeem itself on the customer service side. Would you extend to me a refund so that I can download the Mac OS X version from the App Store? Or do you have a current conversion or migration process? (I seem to recall reading somewhere that you were doing this on a case-by-case basis - I'm willing to wait it out if that's all I can do...)

    Please advise,

    Jeff Flynn

I agree that AgileBits need to say more clearly about the issue with iCloud sync. But in fact it is there in a visible place (not hidden away) on the purchase page, it's just that they need to say it more than once.

Apple don't provide any way to do a migration. But you should be able to get a refund on the upgrade price. An AgileBits staff member will be along to deal with this. Unfortunately (again an Apple issue) if you want the App Store version, you will have to pay full price, again Apple offer no way to give discounts on upgrades.

I'm in the same situation. I purchased it from their site for my Mac and also purchased the iOS version for my phone and iPad. Only to find out that I can not use iCloud for syncing. I'm still disappointed and think that the alternative suggestion of using Dropbox and wifi is a lame one. Angelbit should make an effort to either reimburse customers for their purchase from their site so you can buy it from the AppStore or give people a discount. :-(

If you purchased within the refund window (30 days) The staff can always refund the purchase so you can purchase directly from the Mac App Store which will allow you to use iCloud syncing. It would appear as a credit on your purchasing card and may take a couple of days to get properly credited back to you.

If this applies to you please send an email to support@agilebits.com Including info needed to locate you purchase. Name, email etc. and a link to this discussion. Also specify you if want this processed or you have any questions which they may be able to answer. To help you decide prior to any possible refund action being taken.

You will receive an automated reply from the email / ticket system. Please post that ticket number back here so the staff can connect the dots.

    • Please do note that I just checked and the purchase price on the Mac App Store is $50 and no discounts are available at this time. No discounts are available for any upgraded paths. The MAS doesn't offer upgrade or discount pricing.
      * AgileBits staff are the one thats make the refund decisions based upon set forth criteria. I make no guarantee that you will receive a refund. Info is simply provided so you can request one, if it indeed applies to you.

When you submit the email you will receive an automated reply from the email system with a ticket number. Please post that ticket number back here so the staff can notate it.

    Hi @jsom and @jflynn333,

I see that you've both emailed us as suggested by thightower. Thanks for taking the time to write us here and via email; we're happy to help with your refunds, and we apologize for the confusion.

    @ginko,

I searched our sales records for your email address and the only purchase I found was a v3 license from 2013-02-01. We then automatically gave you a free upgrade to v4 when it was released 8 months later. A year after that, that license was again automatically upgraded for free to a v5 license, which is still valid. So I'm afraid your purchase is outside of the 30-day refund window, and we're unfortunately unable to offer an upgrade discount to existing users through the Mac App Store because we don't run that store.

It's up to you to determine whether iCloud sync is worth paying again. Meanwhile, you still have sync options available to you.

In case you're interested, here's a bit of background on why the Mac App Store version is required for iCloud sync at this point:

Why does iCloud require at least iOS 8, OS X 10.10, and the Mac App Store?

We thank you all for being 1Password customers. We truly do appreciate your loyalty, and we're always incorporating your feedback to improve 1Password with each new version. Cheers! :)
