I first received 1Password when it sold as a voluntary contribution. I received emails from the founder on almost a daily basis. Several years later, was required to purchase the program and I did for my and my wife's computers. Now, years later, I get a"Trial Period Ended" fault message. What gives???

If there is a new version, I am willing to pay for it. Would like it for my wife's computer, iPhone and iPad. Also for my iPhone and computer (all Apple). I would also like all the documentation i need to prove my ownership to prevent a reoccurrence of this annoyance.

This is a public forum so I've deleted the telephone number in your post. It's not a good idea to post that sort of information here.

This knowledge base article will help you:

    “Trial Expired” notice (Mac)

Also for my iPhone and computer (all Apple). I would also like all the documentation i need to prove my ownership to prevent a reoccurrence of this annoyance.

The only version of 1P, of those you mentions, which needs a separate "licence" is 1P for Mac when bought from the AgileBits store. Any app you buy from the Mac App Store is automatically licensed by the Mac App Store purchase procedure.

You can buy 1P for Mac either from the Mac App Store or direct from the AgileBits store. There are two things to bear in mind:

    1. If you ever want to use iCloud to sync 1P data between your Mac and iPhone you must buy 1P from the Mac App Store because the version from the AgileBits store doesn't support iCloud sync (following changes made by Apple on the launch of OS X Yosemite). Both versions support sync of 1P data by either local wifi or Dropbox.
    2. If you have owned an earlier version of 1P for Mac you may be entitled to an upgrade discount if you buy from the AgileBits store. That discount won't be available if you buy from the Mac App Store.

  • Hi @CaptFly,

I've resent your licences to you just now. From what I can see you purchased 1Password 3 in 2011. Now 1Password 4 is indeed a paid upgrade over 1Password 3 so if you would like to move to a newer version (the newest is 1Password 5 and requires OS X 10.10 AKA Yosemite) it would mean purchasing a new licence. You can use your existing 1Password 3 licence key to purchase an upgrade by entering the licence key at Upgrades for Existing Licence Owners or you can continue running 1Password 3 for Mac although as operating systems and browsers change we're finding more and more functionality is ceasing to work.

We will happily cover all the options available to you if you could let us know what versions of OS X and iOS you are running and as Stephen_C enquired, would iCloud Sync be something you deem a must have. If you do that places certain restrictions on the possibilities as only Mac App Store can access iCloud but we can cover all of that once we know a bit more. I hope that helps a bit and we'll await your reply
