1Password on Mac laptop doesn't sync with vault on IOS

I have set up 1Password on my iphone and ipad and they work fine. The problem is that I downloaded the free trial of 1 Password on my Macbook Air and messed up the installation - end result is that I can't access/sync the vault already created on the mobile devices.

  • Hey @johnmxp! The free trial of 1Password is from the AgileBits site, not the Mac App Store. To use iCloud sync, you need to purchase 1Password from the Mac App Store. Here's why. There is unfortunately no free trial available, but if you want to try using the Mac app with your current vault I would recommend switching your sync method to Dropbox. Once you set this up, you will be able to access your passwords on all your devices — Dropbox works with every platform including Windows and Android, which is why people love it. :)

As for the "messed up" installation of 1Password on your MacBook Air, could you explain what happened? If it was simply an issue of lacking iCloud sync, then the info above should cover it. Let me know if this helps!

Hi @penderworth - thanks a million for your very full explanation. It covers my situation perfectly. I presumed I had made a mistake at installation by choosing to create a vault instead of synchronizing an existing one. In fact Dropbox synchronization works fine. Thanks a lot. John

  • @johnmxp Glad to hear it! Let me know if you need anything else. :)
