Purchased wrong version.

I purchased 1Password5 and then realized that I need 1Password from the App Store. I paid for the license and have a key. When I wanted to download from the App Store, it wants to charge me $49.99 again for the download. How do I just download this without paying again?

If you bought 1P for Mac from the AgileBits store within the past 30 days AgileBits will refund your money to allow you to buy the Mac App Store version. However, I note you refer to a licence key. Note that 1P5 uses a licence file—so the first step is just to check you do actually have a licence file for 1P5.

@keithmesch: Since your licensing situation isn't completely straightforward, I've sent you an email at the address you registered on the forums. Please verify that you received it, and then we can continue the conversation there.

And in case it helps you or anyone else, the AgileBits Store version of 1Password is identical to the Mac App Store version, except the latter is able to use iCloud Sync, according to Apple's policies.

But if anyone wishes to 'switch' to the Mac App Store version after purchasing 1Password from the AgileBits Store, we can and will refund the purchase so long as it is within the 30 day guarantee period. Cheers! :)

Thanks for the reply. When I saw that I can share 1PW across my Apple devices I was really excited. I have used 1PW for about 10 years and have loved the program. I appreciate that I can get a refund. Because I was upgrading from ver 3 to ver 5, I paid $24.99 for the upgrade in the AgileBits store. It looks like I need to pay $49.99 on the Apple App Store. If there is no real remedy for this, I will probably revert to DropBox for sharing with my iPad and iPhone.

Sadly yes, there isn't currently a way to offer individuals a discount on the Mac App Store. Maybe one day Apple with have such a feature but for the moment it's something we can only offer at our own store where we have total control to do as we please.

Hopefully Dropbox will be an acceptable alternative. It works everywhere you could have used our iCloud Sync and on other platforms too such as Windows and Android. It is also the only way to share a secondary vault with others, say a partner or family. You keep your personal items in your primary vault which you sync only to your devices but then also keep a secondary vault for shared items that can be accessed by others that you supply access to the Agile Keychain and Master Password to.

I find people are passionate about cloud services. I'm not sure I'll ever really understand but passion is passion. I'm not a heavy user of Dropbox but I've never had complaints and we use it here at AgileBits. If you need any assistance with it let us know :smile:

Thanks, I am going to stay with the AgileBits version and use Dropbox. I have been using 1PW for about 10years, so I don't make too many changes day to day anyway. Thanks for your help.
