Bypass 1Password password management for specific URLs

One of my Banks is Westpac banking Corporation in Australia. They send out a screen with an image of a keyboard and a hidden password which is uniquely generated for each logon where the keys on this virtual keyboard will generate a code specific to this login attempt. When I use the mouse to select the keys on the screen image of a computer it generates a password based on the correlation of keyboard codes the bank has determined for this login and the bank then decodes that to see if it matches my stored password at the bank (no doubt encrypted so it is not in the clear).

This design means that 1Password, will issue a pop-up I need to cancel for each mouse click after the first and, when I have finished, will prompt me to see if I wish to change my stored password.

I would like to avoid this nuisance and am prepared to remember that password in addition to my 1Password master (maybe 2Password ;-) ). For example, if I could have an option in the login screen setup window to bypass 1Password processing for this URL that would be great.

You've not said what version of 1P you are using but if it's 1P5 this may help. Go to 1P5 > Preferences > Browser and fill in the relevant domain in the last box on the screen.

    Hi @john_crooks,

I hope Stephen's answer helped! There's also another way to exclude a site from autosave: When 1Password prompts you to save a new Login for that site, you can click the gear icon in the lower-left corner of the dialog and choose "Never Autosave for this site":

Hopefully you're all set, but if you need anything else, just let us know. :)

I am using 1Password 5.3 with El Capitan (although this issue pre-dated Mavericks). I usually use Chrome as the browser but the symptoms are identical with Safari .

Stephen's answer helped in that, if I invoke the browser from 1Password I can manually enter the password and avoid these prompts. If I select the site from my browser bookmark I am still prompted.

Thank you for your support - a slight change in process on my part and all works fine.

I have this issue but, no matter how many times I select "Never autosave for this site" Autosave still reappears every time! This is evidenced by the "block list":

How do I prevent this for the site permanently? (Happens on 2 banking sites!)

Oh, I'm on OSX 10.11 (though it happened on 10.10 too) and Safari 9.0

    Greetings @Andy_Crosbie,

That's odd. I visited www.caterallenonline.co.uk and I tested the stage 1 page with both no entry in the block list and a single entry of www.caterallenonline.co.uk in the block list. 1Password behaved as you want it to, in one instance it asked but in the other it ignored. So I'm wondering, can the first page be troublesome or is it a specific stage in the process where you see this behaviour and what happens if you clear out the block list and start with a clean slate so to speak, using Drew_AG's suggestion from above on how to populate the list.

Hopefully we can identify why this isn't working for you

Thanks for the speedy feedback, @littlebobbytables.

There are 2 pages, one after the other, that have the partial letters protection - the Autosave reappears both times... but to your suggestion I shall run with a clean slate and see what happens (when I return home form work!) ; then try adding manually too, then I`ll get back to you

I just wanted to show appreciation for your timely response!!

BTW - one for the wish list - having the partial password digits as a password-type/function would be super-useful as a development and allow us to assign a more secure passwords for our banking! maybe a right-click option and select the appropriate digit numbers..?

oh meant to inquire... does the Lenient URL matching affect the autosave too?

    Hello @Andy_Crosbie,

Please do know if anything improves or not. I don't believe the Lenient URL matching should have any effect on asking to save, that should only be for when we try to match Login items to the page you want to fill. If it did turn out to be having an impact I would classify that as a bug.

Now to your other wish list point. We do have an improvement in the beta at the moment that might help here. It isn't ideal, I hope we can devise something better in the future but we have a new feature called Large Type which displays the password in a large font with the added benefit that each character is indexed. It looks a little like this.

Now imagine that a good deal bigger - I had to shrink it a lot to fit on the web page but if you anchor an item from within 1Password mini and then use the Large Type feature it will display that on the screen while you type certain characters into the fields. What do you think?
