Unintentionally bought 1Password from apple App Store, while intending to buy from agilebits.com

A friend shared a discount code for 1password for Mac with me. I was at the agilebit website at the checkout, while I tried to see if the Apple App Store is offering the same discount. I clicked Buy under the software name in the app store, and even though I haven't setup 1-Click buy, the store automatically charged me, and processed the transaction, without confirming the credit card CVV number and expiry date. Upon inquiring, I was told by Apple support that the apple users are by default 'opted-in' for the 1-Touch feature, and I can't do anything about the inadvertent purchase, except to reach out to Agilebits support and see if you guys can help. I have not even downloaded the software yet from the Apple Store, and reaching out to Agilebit support, to see if I can get help with sorting out the issue.

Thank you.

@kt001:Sorry for the confusion! Unless you purchase from the AgileBits Store (https://agilebits.com/store) we won't have a record (or access to) your purchase. I don't see any records matching this email address, but if there's another you used be sure to email us at support+licenses@agilebits.com and we'll do whatever we can to help!

That said, the App Store is owned and operated by Apple, so if you purchased there, you'll have to contact them directly with any inquiries about your purchase.

Alternatively, you can also just keep that version (it's identical to our own, with the addition of iCloud) and email us at the address above with your receipt, and we can give you a license for the AgileBits version if you'd like to use that too.

    I hope this helps! :)

Thank you for the prompt response. I guess I will keep the version I am about to download from the app store.
From cost perspective, I was willing to purchase the product at the discounted price, offered by the special running on your website. Hence I was a little disappointed when Apple charged me a full price, while all I was trying to do is price comparision, and see if the discount code could be used on the app store.

    thank you.

    Hi @kt001,

A friend shared a discount code for 1password for Mac with me. I was at the agilebit website at the checkout, while I tried to see if the Apple App Store is offering the same discount.

I'm not sure what the story is with this discount code, but I wanted to let you know that coupon codes for the AgileBits Store can generally only be used once, and can only be used in our store, not in the App Store or anywhere else.

We're very sorry to hear that you made an accidental purchase in the Mac App Store. As Brenty mentioned, only Apple can refund that for you, so I really hope that they will if you ask them to. Here is all the information we can give you about App Store refunds. Best of luck with that!
