Running 1P 5.3 on Mac. Downloaded 5.3.2. Now they sit side-by-side in Applications.

When I restart, 5.3 begins. How do I switch over to 5.3.2? And will it automatically use the 5.3 database?

    Hi @PDHirsh01,

Did you purchase 1Password for Mac from the Mac App Store? If so, the latest update for that is version 5.3. If you also have version 5.3.2, that's the latest update for the AgileBits Store version. The reason those versions don't match is because the last 2 updates for the AgileBits Store version only had changes related to purchasing/licensing 1Password from the AgileBits Store:

    • 5.3.1: Added the ability to purchase 1Password licenses from within 1Password itself.

    • 5.3.2: Improved reliability of the in-app store WebView.

Those changes don't apply to the Mac App Store version because purchasing/licensing is managed by the Mac App Store. Therefore we didn't need to release 5.3.1 or 5.3.2 for the Mac App Store version.

The AgileBits Store and Mac App Store versions keep separate databases on your Mac, although the very first time you install/open one version, it will look for & copy the database from the other version if it doesn't already have its own. But after that, they're completely separate from each other.

You can start using the AgileBits Store version if you want to (it will activate itself when it sees you have the Mac App Store version installed), but you'll lose the iCloud sync feature, as that is only available in the Mac App Store version. If you don't really have a reason for switching to the AgileBits Store version, you'll probably just want to delete that one, and continue using the Mac App Store version.

The Mac App Store should be named 1Password.app in the Applications folder, and the AgileBits Store version should be named 1Password 5.app. When you decide which one you want to continue using, make sure it has all your latest data, then drag the app you don't want to the Trash (don't use any app cleaning utilities, as they might accidentally delete your 1Password data).

I hope that helps, but if you have more questions, please let us know. :)
