Got charged again (Mac app store). How to resolve?

Hello,

I'm a long time user of 1Password.

Today after upgrading to OS X El Capitan I had problems with 1Password and got to this web page:
https://support.1password.com/error-connect-to-mini/
As advised there, I removed 1password and redownloaded from the Mac App store and immediately saw a charge of $73 on my Credit card.

Since I already had a copy of 1Password5, why was I charged at all? (Also, why $73?)

How can I resolve this?

Thanks.

Update -- I called Apple and they refunded the $49.99 (the other $23 were "bundling" of other purchases made on the App store). However, they said I wouldn't be able to re-download it from the Mac App store. I guess that is OK, since it ought to be available on the Agile bits website where I originally bought it, right?

    Hi @sakumar,

Sorry for any confusion about that! It sounds like you originally bought a license for 1Password from our AgileBits Store. The Mac App Store has no way of knowing if you bought software from us, so the Mac App Store version of 1Password is a separate purchase. That's why it's necessary to reinstall it from the same store where you originally made the purchase, as mentioned in the steps you followed:

    3. Reinstall 1Password. Make sure to pick the same version (App Store or AgileBits website) that you originally had installed.

I'm glad you were able to get a refund from Apple for that (we're not able to process refunds for purchases made from the Mac App Store, as Apple maintains all control over transactions there). You're correct - if you bought a license from the AgileBits Store, you don't need (and won't be able) to download 1Password from the Mac App Store. Instead, you would simply download the copy from our download site.

If you have more questions about that, or if you still need help with 1Password on El Capitan, please let us know - we're here for you! :)
