Clean install of OS X 10.11. Clean install of 1Password. When !password wanted me to install Safari extension, a warning comes up the that extension is not from Safari extension gallery, do you trust the developer, are you sure that you want to continue. OK, your extension is in the Safari extension gallery, but the download comes from Agilebits. Something new?

    Hi @Steve_H,

Sorry for the confusion! Yes, this is something new in Safari 9. To make a long story short, it's a way to make extensions more secure. For example, if you download the 1Password extension through Apple, it's gone through a process that ensures it's the 'real' 1Password extension when it communicates with 1Password mini. Firefox recently went through a similar change, is it now requires extensions to go through a signing process.

As you noticed, you can still currently install the copy of the 1Password extension available from our extension download site if you click the "Trust" button when prompted by Safari. That's fine, as long as you're downloading it from our site.

If you have more questions about that, please let us know! :)

Thanks Drew. Although I am pretty sure that I got the extension from the big green button, is there a way to tell if it is really from you?

Drew, I uninstalled the extension that I think I got from you and installed the one that is available from the Safari Extension Gallery. It is a bit older than the one you have on your website, but, ........ Sorry to be so much trouble. Steve H

Sorry to disagree, Drew, but your suggestion is not accurate in my experience. I am using 1Password 5 Version 5.3.2 (532001) from the Agile Web Store. No problem under Yosemite, but now under El Capitan, the 1PSW extension WILL NOT WORK in Safari. And no, downloading it from your site doesn't solve it__ either. Restarting Safari does not help. I even installed the 1Password beta 4.5.0b2, but to no avail. Or is version 4.x of the extension not to be used with 1Password 5? If so, where is the version 5.x Safari browser extension then?

Here's what happens no matter what I try...

When I click on the 1PSW icon to the left of the address bar in Safari, I see this:

    Looking for the 1Password app
The 1Password app must be installed for the extension to work properly.

An empty window flashes on and off on my screen, but I can't see its contents.

    I also see two buttons:

    Try Again
    Get the app!

    Clicking Try Again always fails.

Here's a screencast I just made with voiceover that shows you exactly what my eyes see:

And by the way, I disabled SIP (System Integrity Protection) so Default Folder would work, so SIP cannot possible be the root cause of this 1PSW browser extension problem.

Any advice you may have to solve this problem would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I logged out and in and now it is working. So for those of you with the problem, a logout or restart appears to be required.

@JDW: Thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear you were able to get it to work by restarting. :)

@Steve_H: Sorry for the confusion! There is a bit of a lag, so yes, the Gallery version is slightly older. This is something we're working with Apple to get resolved in the future. If it's working for you, just stick with that one as it should be able to autoupdate when the time comes. But if you're having issues with that extension version, you can always install the latest version directly from our site — it simply won't be able to autoupdate. Cheers! :)
