I have removed all remains of 1Password4 (library et c), but when launching 1Password5, I only get the message 1Password could not connect to 1Password mini. What to do?

Best Regards

    Does this AgileBits post help?

    Hi @MartinNoren,

I'm sorry you're having trouble opening 1Password 5 on El Capitan! It seems a small number of 1Password customers are running into this issue, but the fix should be simple. It looks like you're using the AgileBits Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac, so the steps from the link in Stephen's message should work for you:

    1. Ensure you only have a single copy of 1Password on your Mac, you will want it to reside in /Applications/.
    2. Use the following command in a Terminal window. The command is xattr -d -r -s com.apple.quarantine /Applications/1Password\ 5.app.

Apparently, some customers have also been able to get 1Password to open correctly by rebooting their Mac and trying again, without needing to follow the above steps. Please let us know how it works out for you!

I have removed all remains of 1Password4 (library et c)

I'm worried that you may have removed your 1Password data when you did that. Assuming you can now open 1Password 5 on your Mac, please let us know if your data is also gone. You should be able to easily get it back again if you haven't deleted the files you removed, if you have a backup of your Mac that includes your 1Password data, or if you were previously syncing 1Password to another device and/or Dropbox. Let us know how it all goes, thanks!

    Great!

This solved it. Works as a charm now.

(And I had a fresh vault backup, so no info was lost)

Excellent! Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that everything worked out, but we're here if you need us! :)
